Oh, shit. I am in the final round of interviews with Twitter for a position doing HR investigations. This would be a lot more fun that what I am currently working on. Although my current investigation is with a consulting firm, and the employees are all working on operations implementation at HUD. I am so tempted to ask about Ben Carson's leadership of the HUD.

Let the record show I didn't consider the fact that 9000 people had already made that same joke, including swampers.

Sorry dudes.

The report I read from NBC News said that Mueller has enough evidence to indict the Flynns for unreported foreign lobbying work on behalf of Erdogan and Turkey, but is using that leverage to press them for any additional info they have. So the indictments themselves may not be imminent.

Benjamin Wittes adds his two cents over at Lawfare about Trump’s lamenting the limits of what he can and cannot do as president.

I have to think they have enough on Flynn Sr to get him without going after his son.

It'll be so great to watch them Lock Him Up.

Wasn't saying they use the kid to indict Sr, but they use the threat of locking up the kid to get sr to cooperate on Trump.

Media needs to calm down about Trump dumping fish food into the tank. It's getting stupid, no wonder they are mistrusted.

Are you in a 12 hour timewarp up there? This was a blip on cable news yesterday, a slightly bigger deal on social, but I haven't seen it pop back up today once.

And, for the record, my social pretty quickly had follow up stories showing he full clip and calling the whole thing pretty silly.

So, not sure what "media" we're talking about.

Are you 18 hours late on that or is there a legitimate media organization out there still pushing that story?

No, the media is the main problem with American society, not our corrupt leadership or uneducated populace.

Trump and the Japanese PM were doing some silly photo op where they dumped fish food in a pond full of koi (I think, maybe some other kind of fish, who cares). A short clip seemed to show Trump dumping his fish food in the water like a dumb ass, before the Japanese PM could do it. Made it look like some kind of snub.

Follow up social media stories showed the longer clip where the PM had already dumped his fish food.. Nothing to the original stories.

So, really this was about a 4 hour news cycle limited almost entirely to The Internets. I didn't see it on CNN, which I have on mute all day in my office. I can't speak for MSNBC, but given all the other stuff they have to cover, I really doubt they spent anything other than a cursory moment on it.

Here's a full run down.

CNN was still talking about it this morning from what I saw.
An article is still up too with the edited video.

It's not that the reports got it wrong, they edited the video purposely.

A brief interest story that is buried several links deep is bing used to discredit an entire industry.

So CNN posts a provocative article and buries the weasel-worded line:

The move got Trump some laughs, and a smile from Abe, who actually appeared to dump out his box of food ahead of Trump.

Fuck CNN for giving credence to the #fakenews crowd. They want to be People Magazine sometimes, and taken seriously others. But make no mistake about it: they lacked the journalistic fortitude of being arbiters of truth when it mattered most last year. Instead they trotted that bag of dicks out there every fucking morning.

Is that take hot enough for ya?

I'm obsessed with reading anti-Trump stuff, and this is the first I've heard of this. The story did not appear in any of the news aggregators I peruse, or my Facebook feed, which has a lot of Lefty news sites and friends who frequently post anti-Trump articles.

I'll agree with Degen that the media needs to focus on the real issues, and not get caught up in stupid, petty gossip rag attacks because Lord knows they have way too much material to work with, but again, I never even saw this story. To Rass' point, the Right constantly whines that the media is out to get Trump, and yet none of his individual should-be-scandals gets remotely the coverage it deserves, because there are constantly new ones. The media isn't treating Trump unfairly, despite his constantly claiming victimhood. If any other politician did or said just one of the 100s of things Trump has said or done since announcing his candidacy, the media would have destroyed them. We've seen dozens of candidates destroyed for far less. I've gone through this before, so I'll leave it there.

Not accusing Degen of this, but all the assholes bitching that the media and Left need to respect the President can fuck right of. This is the same guy who led the Birther movement for years, and spent years making personal attacks against Obama, while now doing the same thing to an exponential degree. And the supposed Left Wing Obama coddling MSM covered it extensively for years. All the major networks covered the "controversy" long after Obama provided his birth certificate, the local paper showed they ran a birth announcement at the time, and the Republican Governor verified that the information was legitimate and correct. Especially fuck Sean Hannity for crying about how the media dare criticize Trump for horrendous acts, after Hannity spent 8 years attacking Obama as unfit for the Presidency for committing such scandalous acts as wearing a tan suit, committing a "terrorist fist-bump" with his wife, asking for dijon mustard on a hamburger, working in the Oval Office without a tie on the weekends... Fuck all of them.

https://crooked.com/article/body-blow-trumpism/

Beutler with some Taibbi-esque stuff here.

Out of the gate:

History will probably log the 2012 election as the last time Republicans presented voters with anything resembling an honest statement of its post-Reagan era governing priorities. Defeat that year confronted them with what most observers interpreted as a choice between offering less reactionary economic policies (fewer tax cuts for the rich, less anti-welfare nihilism) or softening their hostility to immigrants (legalization of immigrants, no more self-deportation).

Instead, they embraced Trumpism, which aims to smuggle the Chamber of Commerce’s policy agenda into law beneath an overlay of toxic racism and xenophobia.

Light 'em up.
