Re: NBA 2024-25
The only surprising thing is the timing. Some of the players seemed to have checked out over the course of the season and the defense has fallen apart. Dropping 4 in a row in a tight playoff race seemed to be the final nail. It's not Malone's fault that they are handcuffed with this roster...the only tradeable asset would be Porter (and that's questionable), no draft picks, Murray max extension and up against the first cap apron means all they can do is sign the MLE guys, which flamed out spectacularly with Dario Saric this year. Changing coaches is lipstick on a pig at this point.
But they named David Adelman the interim...essentially swapping out one nepo baby for another.

Teams loving firing Budenholzer.
My avatar corresponds on my place in the Swamp posting list with the all-time Home Run list. Tied with Mel Ott at Number 25 is Miguel Cabrera at 511.
Re: NBA 2024-25
It's so crazy the Rockets have their lotto pick. I'm going to be mad if they trade it back for KD or Booker unless the rest is just filler. Would be stupid to trade any integral piece of a very young team that finished #2 in the West.

Nice work if you can (not) get it.

Re: NBA 2024-25
I’ve been watching with side-eye the Sixers shut down their season. They finished 5th worst, and the pick is top-6 protected. But if they fall out of the top 6, a 34% chance, then it gets conveyed to OKC, which was the hanging chad of the trade that sent out Al “Double Agent” Horford for Danny Green in 2020.Giff wrote: Mon Apr 14, 2025 11:24 am It's so crazy the Rockets have their lotto pick. So enjoy the Title and the #7 pick, OKC.

Re: NBA 2024-25
We had something similar with OKC last year. I can't remember the exact protection, but it was similar to the Sixers' odds this year. I hope it works out for you.L-Jam3 wrote: Mon Apr 14, 2025 11:44 amI’ve been watching with side-eye the Sixers shut down their season. They finished 5th worst, and the pick is top-6 protected. Budenholzer probably enjoyed getting fired. Four years left on a five-year, $50 million contract.

Sometimes the league should be allowed to step in and change a playoff series to a best-of-1
Re: NBA 2024-25
Adding Jimmy Butler has sure invigorated the Warriors.

Re: NBA 2024-25
I thoroughly enjoyed watching Ty Jerome go off in his first ever playoff game. 28 points off the bench for Cleveland, including 16 in the 4th quarter when he nearly single-handedly beat the Heat back. He's a guy who's really battled to make his NBA dream happen. He clung to deep bench positions while battling regular ankle injuries - particularly tough on a guy who already has way below average athleticism for an NBA guard. It's all come together for him this year and it's beautiful.
Totally Kafkaesque

Re: NBA 2024-25
When the game turned in the first and second quarter, it seemed like Houston was extremely careless with the ball, including some nonsense of the "blindly saving the ball under our own basket" variety. They were 11th on the season, but last night just seemed excessive. Still have to like their chances with how well they rebounded on the offensive end. Not sure the Warriors have a lot of options to help out.

Last night reminded me that Draymond Green is my least favorite player in NBA history not named Stockton or Malone.

Re: NBA 2024-25
Memphis is not great right now (I wish they had lost the second play-in game)...BUT...I think OKC is REALLY good. Like, my hunch is that everyone is playing for runner-up at this point.
Re: NBA 2024-25
Draymond Green is a fucking clown. Dillon Brooks owns who he is which is so much more respectable.

Hey look! Draymond acting like a bitch! Cause he’s a bitch!
It’s crazy how he gets to act how he does. Especially after he gets his one token technical which only serves as an invitation to be the biggest whiny bitch of all-time cause the refs are too scared to give him his second one to eject him.

Re: NBA 2024-25
Are they going to let Detroit steal a shot here??? Like thats either intentional or a timekeeper who doesn’t know the rules.
Re: NBA 2024-25
I would like someone to talk about the ending here. Like there's no way the NBA doesn't come up with some sort of if/then rule against the home team for the future, right?
Re: NBA 2024-25
I read that the NBA uses its own timekeepers for playoff games, so it could actually be the latter (incompetence). It would be interesting to see if the same thing happened for other missed FTs earlier in the game, though it would be hard to notice that (and there weren’t many misses).

It look like Anthony Edwards playing bumper cars with LeBron has woken him up. Seems less than ideal for the Lakers since there are multiple guys he can get switched onto easily and eat up.
And now clutching his knee after going for a loose ball.

Its probably just me...but its really weird to hear the Ref's calling him "LeBron" on the explanation about the flagrant foul...
Re: NBA 2024-25
I'm going to go ahead and predict Giannis in Houston next season. With Dame out, I think they go rebuild and can get some good young players along with some Phoenix draft picks which should be high for the next few years.

Yeah I think it will depend on how much the Bucks would value those picks. I don't think any of them are protected at all.
