If you walk a guy with two outs and the tying run on-deck, you should be suspended for a month.

If you're an OF and you allow the tying run to move up a base with two outs because you were trying to cut down a runner at home, you should be suspended for a month.

I'm not sure I'm following this. So you're mad at a guy trying to throw a guy out for the 3rd out, thereby preventing a tie game and guaranteeing a win? Or did the OF make the 2nd out, which again means he was trying to prevent a tie game throwing at a tagging up runner. But that second one doesn't make sense because if would have to have been a tie game for a guy to have a chance to move up so I'm assuming now that the OF didn't make an out, but rather played the ball, threw home, which again would be to prevent a tie. I guess I could see if a guy hit a single and you let him get to second, but again, the OF was trying to end the game, which I guess I live with unless he's Johnny Damon.

How many people were on base?

I can just go look all this up on the play by play but I'd rather waste everyone's time.

It wasn’t a one run gameat the beginning of the inning. I worked my way through it.

To the first part, yes, you cannot sail it over the cutoff and let the tying run take 2B in that situation. Its one of those "great play idiot" if it works, but it can't not work.

Yeah, that's 101 stuff. Dude must've been so far back that he would've had to fly the cutoff no matter what, or he has a noodle arm and can't hit the cut in such a way that if the catcher calls off the cut, it would've triple bounced and the runner at home would've easily been safe.

Generally, yeah, unless you have an absolute cannon, you need to just hit the cut and keep the guy on first (and the ensuing force play at 2nd).

I thought you were joking so I looked it up. They have a combined FOUR wins so far. Those are some devoid of talent teams.

I didn’t want to complain and sound like a biased fan but watching live this seemed like a horrendous umping performance. Cannot believe Schneider didn’t go out and get himself ejected, I was scared of him through the tv.

Fun with small samples sizes but Texas is 9-5 with a -10 run differential and the White Sox are 3-10 with a -2 RD.

The Cubs have a +41 RD.

There’s a very good chance this is the high point of the season.

Though same for the White Sox I guess.

If anyone is able to watch Bo Naylor’s PA in the 8th inning last night, you will see one or two pitches of your boy taking over front row seats and being asked to leave those front row seats.

The unintentionally mean way to put it is that they've never been a big enough threat to develop a hatred of them. Plus I really like when teams develop a core of position players and they all take over the lineup around the same time. Still think you guys are fucking up massively not trading some excess for pitching.

The stadium is still perfect although the hot dogs were awful. Also you should have wind blocking stuff because I was cold.

My Red Sox update: a friend's son had a procedure at Boston Children's Hospital (doing great, positive prognosis), and 3 Red Sox came to visit, which is great of them, but my friend has zero interest in sports, so he sent a picture of the players to his sports fans friends to identify them. It was not easy

And, the top four teams of the NL West have a combined run differential of +95. Offset by 5th place Colorado with a negative 51 by themselves.

Yeah it’s weird so far. 9 of the 10 teams in the AL Central and AL West are below water.

Elly De La Cruz with a ridiculous lay out and catch against the O’s.

Led off the next inning with a dinger.

Elias really did some significant GM malpractice over the last year and a half. Really really shit work, actually. Blocked prospects, causing them to lose their luster without dealing them at peak value.* Didn't shore up pitching through trades when could have. Careened into 2025 spending what apparently little money they had to spend on yet another OF while wafting prayers at the starting pitching. Just really dumb shit.

*And when he did try a trade, I have no fucking earthly idea why Trevor Rogers was the target last July - and Stowers and Norby had real value too...

And, while we are here, getting Burnes for a 1-year rental was good - but - no execution on a back-up plan for when he would inevitably move on.

Seventh blown save already by the Phillies bullpen. The team’s been in existence since the Chester Arthur administration, and they’ve had three total seasons where you could have confidence in their 7-8-9. Fucking Mets own our shit right now.

The Cubs are in a similar situation - 6 saves, 6 blown saves. Though I think they've won half of the games where they've blown saves.

If they can keep scoring 6-7 runs per game, that won't be a problem.
