I have since purchased my own pen and three different strains of weed to enjoy out of said pen. I have not been disappointed and I have been very high. I have had the Sour Diesel, Lambs Bread and the XXXOG.

What pen did you buy? I got to sample a vape pen when I was in Denver last year and I freaking loved it.

This is the one I use. Not expensive and works just fine for my needs.

Ate the gummy bear a few weeks ago. Perfect mellow. Even with a good amount of booze, I felt great in the morning.

I was in Denver last weekend for work. Always enjoy the city, the new rail system they put in made it so much easier and quicker to get around.

Always fun to see everyone smoking their deserts in public. My wife and I got to laughing about some of the "homeless" who had signs that read "in chronic pain, need weed". I guess it doesn't pay to ask for money anymore.

My friend that gave me the gummi bear has a chocolate bar. It looks tiny, but us plans on getting 42 doses out of it. Why make the bars that small? It looks like it is maybe twice the size of those halloween fun size bars. $80 sounded really expensive, but if you get that many doses off of it, it's a damned bargain.

It's always amazed me how easy it is for dumb laws to be made and keep on the books, yet how difficult it is rescind those laws when the evidence is clear how stupid they are. Everything is made by man, yet we treat it as if it isn't.

Also, fuck Jeff Sessions.

Legal weed is so popular with both Democrats and Republicans that fucking with that could cost the GOP more than just about any other position. (Voting for selling browser histories ain't gonna help them either.)

In 10-15 years or so, guys like Sessions will be dead and 95% of the adult population at that time will have tried pot. And know that the scare stories equating it with hard drugs are bullshit.

So I'm getting my medical card here in a week or so (yes, recreational will be legal here fairly soon, but the taxes will be much higher and I don't feel like waiting -- based on the bills in our legislature, looks like it'll still be cheaper to keep a medical card in good standing. Also the first few weeks after recreational is legal will be a clusterfuck and medical patients will have priority).

So, that said, the menus of various strains that you can get in dispensaries are pretty overwhelming. Any recommendations? I'm probably thinking some kind of sativa/indica hybrid.

ETA: Not that you have to be a Daniel Day-Lewis level actor to convince a pot doctor to sign a recommendation, but this is one time my brain tumor paid off for me since seizures are automatically qualifying for a MMJ card.

Depends on what you're looking to do. Sativa should allow you to function like a normal human, Indica may put you right to sleep. Edibles take a long time to feel the effects, and are easy to overconsume because you don't think they're working. Vapor is easier on your lungs than smoke. As far as what each particular name ("Afghan Kush", "Strawberry Mindwarp", etc.), you're best checking informational websites.

Yeah, I was thinking mostly what strains, but there is a great variety of information on each one so mostly just curious if anyone had any particular favorites.

Personally, I prefer hybrids that are more indica than sativa. Sativa can make my mind overactive, to the point where I don't enjoy the high. I had a sample of a strain called LSD recently, and that was just about the perfect buzz for me. Wish I could get that stuff around here.

I had a friend from Oregon recommend that to me as well, but it's not available in Las Vegas yet, at least not according to Leafly or on any of the dispensary websites I've checked near me.

I usually just go top shelf. Indica for end-of-the-day chilling and sativa if I'm planning on working on something (or partying). For edibles I'd say find something with a 10mg serving and see what it does for you. I can usually take half and be pleasantly stoned for a few hours. Sometimes I'll stagger the halves by a couple hours to maintain the high without going overboard. I prefer the gummies and hard candies since they're small and you can keep them in your pocket without melting (unlike chocolate). The best way to get stoned at shows, imho.

The dispensary should be able to help recommend a strain for you. My sister has insane migraines and the local dude was able to dial in something that works great for her.

To follow what PDX said I'd also add to stay away from the drinkable "edibles" I've had 4-5 and all of them taste like shit.

Good advice. Yeah, I already smuggle in cookies for concerts and the like, but I honestly have no idea what that stuff is or the relative potency from batch to batch as I just get it off a friend who makes pot butter. (It's a long, convoluted story but in the end it gets the job done.)

So basically tired of not really knowing what I'm getting and ready to step up to the legal, medical stuff.

I can't recommend vape pens enough. I'm a sativa guy for the most part although I do enjoy a nice hybrid like sour diesel. Edibles are nice, but I enjoy the immediacy of smoking it. Gets me high quicker.

I also have an indica pen now and it is a great, mellow end of the night buzz.

Color me jealous.

At least for now, you still need a medical card to get that here.

In 4 years when I'm retired, I'm gunna get so high.

My plan: collect retirement check, collect VA check (sleep apnea $$$), collect check for going to college on the Post 9/11 GI Bill, & work part time as a Costco ID checker with the reddest eyes this side of overnight flying.

It's going to be fucking glorious pending I don't die in World War III.

TIL my MMJ card is good in Rhode Island and Montana as well (yet nowhere else in the country) though Nevada has reciprocal agreements with all other states with medical cards. What a weird set of laws.
