And if any beatles song belongs on this list it's "Simply Having A Wonderful Christmas Time"
Hold on, I'm trying to see if Jack London ever gets this fire built or not.

I included a Christmas track and was told off... Should we all be avoiding Christmas tracks with this thread?

I would argue that everything Paul has done post Beatles very poor indeed, same with Bowie and Ziggy

Trying to come up with a continuation on this joke, I quickly came up with "she'd make a dead-legged man come", discarded it because it doesn't really make sense, then remembered how long it took me to recognize the meaning of the real lyric from that song, and decided it's pretty great you can hear that line just about everyday on the radio.

Sorry Rex.

mister_d: The only rule is that the artist/group must be acknowledged as good-to-great and the song has to extremely suck by any standards, not just be a bad song relative to the overall catalog. (Covers do not count, although I'm not sure why.)

and then

If what I presume to be a bands two biggest songs by a margin are both awful, the band is awful. They are not on the mixtape.

So, there's been no ruling on Christmas songs, per se.

Tom - I wasn't going after the choice b/c it was a Christmas song, but rather b/c of Mr.D's stated "...not just a bad song relative to the overall catalog" stipulation.

If we accept that Cliff Richard is good then 'Millennium prayer' is very very bad. I mean, he just sings the lord's prayer and it reached No.1 (in the UK and we hate god over here).

So just to be clear, we're taking an artist that is huge, then shitting on one of their biggest hits?

I suppose you could add Neil Diamond - Sweet Caroline

I don't know dick about Neil Diamond but I assume he was/is quite popular
Dances with Wolves (1) - BSF

"This place was rockin'," said BSF21.

"There is nothing ever uncommon about BSF21."

I think I was 12 or somewhere in that zone when the song came out. I get it.

Mix. Tape.

The song is almost unlistenable.

Or the first track on Side B, if listened to properly.

(I can't think of a bad Floyd tune if you don't count the movie soundtracks and the Waters megalomaniac years)

Then if you had your MTV, surely you viewed the vid at least a thousand times, and remember all those images of awesomeness. But, true, unlistenable on a mix tape.

Gilmour guitar solo on Money.

What? You sir need to have taken more hallucinogens in your youth. Syd is a god.

(and PDX I listen to Dark Side on vinyl quite often, while Money is the start of side B it still is between those other songs is it not? I am not a fan, but as songs go it is not one of the worst of all time, just within their catalogue.)

I'm using my (just created and likely unsanctioned/unsupported) veto on this one.

That song is awesome.

(My reaction likely has something to do with one of my buddies absolutely slaying it with this song at Rick's karaoke on spring break in '91. When he donkey kicked the stool off the stage during the crescendo, a good portion of Duvall Street let out a collective cheer. Best. Karaoke. Ever.)

If we're adding a Floyd song, my vote is for Welcome to the Machine. I find that it just kind of drones on, and the rest of the Wish You Were Here album is absolute perfection.

Foreigner is in a weird category for me... Joined by the J. Geils Band, and then lesser lights like Asia...

I LOVED them in the 80s, but they are unlistenable to me now. Foreigner, though, is the best example. I know every lyric and note of Foreigner 4. I cans still nail Jukebox Hero, even though I only hear it every 3 or 4 years at this point.
