The details in that cartoon are brilliant. The little girl and screaming woman's face, the old man's sweater...

The video for the song might be the greatest video ever! And fun fact, the song was co-written by Paul Schaffer!

I recently listed to a podcast about Martha Wash which was interesting. It was about her battle with the recording industry surrounding bands being able to use her voice for songs ala Milli Vanilli.

As the mornings after a night (or all day) or drinking get rougher to wake up to, I’ve also found a greater awareness of and appreciation for the exact moment it lifts and i feel “normal” again.

Brother in law had a heart attack yesterday. He survived, but it was in the area of the widow-maker and if the clot had slipped this is a different conversation. He's just 49. He had ignored the classic signs for a couple of days. Fellas, don't do that.

Hope your brother in law is alright. Fucking terrifying stuff.

Without the warning signs, they really don't know how clogged up your arteries are getting.

I only got warning signs that couldn't be ignored after 6 hours of medium level heartburn. My widow maker was 70% blocked, luckily it was one of the "non-widow makers" that was basically shut.

He had been having severe heartburn for 3-4 days. He is awake and getting tests, they may keep him another night, though.

Related to one of last week's Swampcrash questions: I am now older (44) than two U.S. Presidents were when they took office (Teddy Roosevelt and JFK).

that's not what she wanted :(

(And it was clear to me by the end of our correspondence that she was following some method or routine of entrapping a sugar daddy that she must've got from a book or the internet or whatever. She was good, but not that good.)

I'm kinda not wanting to use my Traeger at all until the bird that decided to nest on it has their babies hatch.

I'm not some birder (one of my friends is though), but I don't want to ruin anything. Younger me wouldn't give a shit about a bird over cooking food.

We just had something similar that worked itself out. Some birds were building a nest on our little front porch but it kept blowing out or falling before it was complete. I wouldn't have had the heart either to take it down but since it was already failing, I put a little rock up in the spot so they couldn't try a 3rd time. Worst case scenario would have been the dog losing his shit on them every time or a baby/egg falling out where we take him in out or where the kids could see it. Second worst case scenario would be your animal loving kid asking what happens if a baby/egg falls and you answer "vacuum" and she doesn't know you were kidding.

1) Every other spring, birds try to peel back the mesh I put over my roof vents (I'm sure there's a more technical term) and nest up in there. Super loud if they get past the defenses, as that's where our bedrooms are.

2) During COVID, a bird couple made a home up above our bay window in the backyard. It's covered by the roof, so it's a perfect spot. The first year I noticed,* our now deceased dog ate one of the hatchlings when it fell to the ground, so I blocked it off and we saved two more.

That couple has now comeback the last three years and without puppers, it's a pretty solid homebase for them.

(* - I noticed because that first year of COVID I sat in the backyard almost every day to get out of the house during work hours. The birds went from chirping bloody murder at me everytime I sat down to completely ignoring my presence after about a week.)

Mazel.

Sparrows, me thinks. But could also be a Finch.

When I get home I'll use my new app (Merlin) to either get a song or take a pic to ID them.

Merlin app is SO good. Birds I am Id'ing by sounds are now hitting the feeders. Brown Thrasher most recent that I had ID'd by sound but had not seen until last couple of days.

I'm using that and Seek (by Naturalist) to ID birds, animals and flowers/plants. It's a game changer for folks that are out and about in nature but don't really have a background/knowledge in identifying what you're looking at.

Seek can go back through photos in your "roll," so that's been fun, too.

That reminds me that many years ago I worked with a guy who would listen to birdsong while he worked to try and train his ear to be able to ID them.
