Replacing old planes from 1977 with newer ones? I get it’s not a good look to work with Trump, but seems good to improve our technology. Not sure what Whitmer did to Jake this happen or what she gave up, but a governor still has to represent their constituents interests.

Either he replaces the planes because they need to be replaced or you call him out for withholding what our military "needs". You don't enter a transactional relationship and do appearances with this admin in a swing state to get a gift.

I think the mistake Whitmer made was making an ass of herself by hiding from the camera when she was there. If you're there, and being photographed, then for fuck's sake let yourself be photographed. Don't visibly hide.

It's not a mistake for a governor of a state to take pictures with the President of the United States for the purpose of getting something from the President that benefits the ten million residents of her state. She has a duty to do that.

Trying to please the kind of people who would be pissed off about something like that is a fool's errand, because the kind of people who would get exercised about that would just get mad about some other triviality.

Remember when Christie publicly thanked Obama for his response to that big storm in 2012, and the Rs went nuts about Christie doing that, and we all thought they were ridiculous and insanely partisan for getting upset about it?

I'm convinced 50 years from now, Trump and anyone associated with him will be regarded in infamy. I'm mostly thinking about RFK Jr and ICE right now, and not even considering the economy, budget cuts, and assault against the constitution and the rule of law.
