Looks like she cannibalized the Grimace costume?

ETA: I guess that's not the correct verb. Maybe "upcycled" instead. Unless...?

Banner day for her and all things squid, as she was also quoted in the NY Times (Jennifer, not Larissa).

So I just said hi to her instead.
I can only imagine the reactions of the other parents when you approach and say, "Hello Mrs. Sex Machine."
That's what people called her even before she met me.

So your wife didn't want to spend the rest of her life explains how to spell/pronounce your last name?

“It’s much easier to be upset about violent video games or ‘Squid Game’ than it is to try and tackle gun ownership or mental health issues,” he said.

At some point before we were that serious (six months or less?), she said she had decided a long time prior that she was going to keep her name when she got married (Ms. magazine used to show up at our house, among other similar things). I didn't care.

But your explanation makes sense, as well.

the boys varsity crashed out in first round, the girls varsity lost the county final and is likely to cruise in the state tournament based on their bracket and the girls jv is playing their final today as well.
our club FB posts the last two days remind everyone to come out and support the kids and oh btw, the majority of them got their start playing for our club (where they actually received some coaching)
CHAMPIONS!

The boy played great.. had a few chances and caused them all sorts of trouble. He is dissapointed he didn't score but very happy they won. Four games on the road, all won 1-0.
the JV boys are partying tonight.. fortunately its rainy, so i'll be driving and picking him up rather than he spending all night out on a bike... had already told his mom he'd be home around one.. (i'm like.. uhh... no.)
anyway. very cool.

My very socially awkward son is off to a Hallowe'en party thrown by a girl.

He didn't want an elaborate or silly costume, so instead he's going as his beloved Subaru Baja.

Not a former roommate, but I did this my one year of law school in Boston. My good friend was pretty distinctive, and I went around dressed as, and acting like, him all night. Probably my favorite Halloween.

As for me, I was not ready to see my 20 year daughter dressed as 'Sexy Scooby Doo' (3 friends are the rest of the Scooby Gang) for her costume.

Oldest got offered a two-year gig at the world bank starting next summer as part of a program to get young people hands on experience. They plan to accept, but the offer didn't actually include anything about the salary. They know around what others in the program made, which would be awesome to get, but the fact that there was nothing mentioned is strange in a job offer, no?

Yes strange. I did an offer letter this week and benefits and salary is pretty much the only thing in there other than you are offered a job and let us know by date certain. Nothing a phone call can't fix though. Congrats! International post? Fun stuff either way.

Located in a very much up-and-coming part of the city, too. Wife and I stayed down near there right before Delta started surging and we were pretty floored by how many more bars and restaurants have popped up over the last 15-20 years. Used to be very few "hip" places down that way, which is kind of weird because GW's campus would seem to have attracted more spots.

FWIW when I do the unpaid intern thing, those offer letters do have a paragraph of CYA language to conform to FLSA rules. Assume the World Bank has better HR/labor lawyers than I am so likely a matter of how rich shes gonna be.

Unless an intern is getting school credits, it's almost impossible to legally have unpaid interns today. There are some exceptions, but I'd be really careful.

And congrats to your oldest, AB. That kid is going places!

The GF's daughter is heading out for another trail running adventure in a week or so. This time...in Chile! (Here's the map of the route they are doing: https://www.gaiagps.com/map/?loc=10.6/- ... RasterFeet). She's not being paid, but the trip is sponsored by the Chile tourist board and Brooks running.

And DC was one of the worst offenders of this when I was coming out of college. I worked 60 hours a week as an unpaid intern at the DLC in 1991-2. I eventually got a paid gig there, which is one of the main carrots, but hoo boy did DC mess with young, aspiring kids back in the day.
