That was my impression as well. The guy is really funny, but its more of a "mild" form of comedy.

And doing stand-up in a huge arena like that is just strange. The timing is off.
Agree on the arena, especially with his energy. Like, Eddie Murphy and Kevin Hart and Eddie Izzard can do arenas. But Bargatze's not a high energy guy. His entire schtick is anti-that. So it took me awhile to to warm to the show. And it had some old material.

But the second half, especially carnival stuff, was hysterical.

Jeff Ross' 2024 Roast thing on Netflix is a pass. Handful of funny lines but weak lineup. Less like the classic Roasts and more like his short lived comedy central show.

I saw him live at the Laugh Factory and he was meh. I feel like he's best riffing off the cuff. I don't listen to comedy podcasts much, but it seems like he'd be good in that format. Surprised he doesn't have a big one.

Ronny Chieng's special on Netflix was excellent.

His takedown of the American economy was first ballot Hall of Fame stuff. Carlin level material. Like, it not only better explains our current situation than anything else I've heard, but it's hysterical.

AB had his "Cracker of the Year" awards yesterday, apparently. Shane Gillis is the funniest one, but man are the winners in other categories equal parts dumb and ridiculous.

Ian Karmel, from the "All Fantasy Everything" podcast, has a new stand-up special coming out today.

Here's a taste:

I've heard the closing story a few times on the All Fantasy Podcast, and it still kills me.

Frankie Quinones is the best. If you haven’t seen “This Fool” on Hulu check it out.

My wife wanted to see John Mulaney. He's playing at a nice venue around here later in the year. So, I get the presale code, all set up to buy two seats when they go on sale. Shit! Everything I looked at was over $300 per seat. Then, I looked at the slightly cheaper seats and they were already all gone. So much for that idea. Guess we'll wait to see it on tv.

Was listening to one of the Sirius comedy channels and they were playing a gaffigan bit. It was strange because he was 1) doing crowd work and 2) dropped 3 "fucks" in the segment.

Had to be early, early Jimmy G.
