I'd be fine with it. Not the biggest Cole fan and I'd prefer to take shots with hitters.

Apparently Frazier was on the table and Pittsburgh chose the Houston package anyway.

Is G4 Verlander again or a 4th? If the latter, I think I would have split Verlander and Cole with Greinke to avoid the like/kind.

That's actually much more balanced than the 3 salary capped sports in the same time frame.

I remember during the Yankees dynasty, and when the Expos left, that people were saying it was impossible for small market teams to make the playoffs.

Just wanted to note for you that the Pirates’ 3rd round selection in MLB’s amateur draft was right-hand pitcher, Nick Garcia, from... San Carlos, CA.

my wife and i took a quick 30 hr trip to Pittsburgh this weekend, took in my/our first game at PNC Park on Sunday. Just echoing what a million others have said - that place is just beautiful. Sat up on the 1st base side, first row in the upper deck, the view of the field/park/city was awesome.

Hard to believe i grew up just 3.5 hrs from there and that's only my second time ever in the city - we'll go back.

(...also we left after the 8th inning, not my usual jam but wanted to get back to Buffalo at a reasonable time so in my mind the Pirates won 3-2...)

Skenes has faced 7 batters. He has 7 Ks.

To be fair, he's facing the Cubs.

this can't be a great look for the Pirates (something I'm sure that has never been said...):
Rowdy Tellez is cut by Pirates with six games left in their season as he sits FOUR at-bats away from a $200K bonus. Not nice. And something that gets noticed across the game.

Bumps and bruises, I’m sure.

Can’t believe I’m commenting on the Pirates thread, but I looked it up (fan jumped/fell) out of the stand and didn’t stick the landing. The way he fell… what happened? I’d link, but didn’t see a good video. Looked like he jumped up and passed out in midair and fell forward. Like a fish flopping over the edge of a boat.

He’s in critical condition.
