Kung Fu movies are like porn. There's 1 on 1, then 2 on 1, then a group scene..

So cute!!!

We had very few trick-or-treaters last night. The pounding rain that started round 6pm definitely didn't help things. I knew I made the right decision not to do the frozen margaritas for the adults last night.

After we shut down for trick-or-treats last night (at 8pm, blew out the candles and turned off the porch lights), we watch "The Great Pumpkin" for the first time in forever. I'd forgotten just how downbeat Peanuts could be. Charles Schulz was definitely dealing with depression issues, and probably could have used some therapy and/or meds.

However, the "I got a rock" gag just kills me. I laugh when imagining a parent with a pile of rocks next to the door, just in case that loser Charlie Brown kid comes around.

I saw the Peanuts group costume at a Halloween party about a decade back. The guy in the ghost costume with all the extra holes (sewed-on black felt) carrying a rock in one hand was just fantastic. Easy costume yet perfectly captured.

The decision to stay at the house with airplane bottles of booze while the girls finished trick or treating that side of the neighborhood feels like a bad idea this morning. But at least I passed out while the Texans were winning!

Found the bottom of a bottle of scotch with a friend last night. Feel surprisingly good, considering.

Lucky!

Taking today off cause the girls are out of school is one of my better life decisions.

For the first time ever, our candy supply lasted exactly as long as Trick or Treating.

This was helped by the fact that at 10:40 (while I was already in bed), two teenage girls rang our doorbell. They were apparently in full costume, not half-assing it, so my wife gave them everything we had left.

And holy hell that sentence could go lots of ways.

We got home at 6:30, the bowl I left out had one piece of candy left. I hope there weren’t too many groups that Dane to the door and didn’t want take the last one. My daughter was excited to answer the door and hand out candy. This is her first year not going out or going to a party. Took 20 minutes for the first group to stop by. She looked so sad holding the bowl waiting for the doorbell to ring. Only had 3 more groups, last was around 8:00. It always ends really early here, but 6:30 seemed way too early. Driving home there were a decent amount of kids in the street before ours.

took the kiddos on the school (daycare/preschool, prek, k) parade around the block.. then the after party.. then hit a few houses, picked up some takeout, home at 630.. bowl was empty.. refilled it.. kids to bed on time after dinner and bath.. came down at 830.. bowl was empty. cameras kept on dinging all afternoon until about 815. quiet cul-de-sac with only 3 houses so not surprised.
i have yet to break into the haul from last night.

0 trick-or-treaters again. It's been years since we've had any. Sad.

Dress up like Jared from Subway and walk around busier parts of your neighborhood trying to hand out "foot longs."

Three big bags of the Costco candy. Finished giving them out before 8 o’clock.
