US just took over a couple of minutes before that first goal. Other than missing the celebration here, looks like going to bed after the first period wasn't the worst decision ever. Fucking intermissions kill me, especially on late games.

And Bucci should know that the currency exchange is the goto hack Canada joke. Health care?

Took every ounce of New Year's willpower I had to not stay up and watch this, and the GA election results, last night. Definitely watching the replay at some point in time later.

It's worth watching. One of the more riveting games I've watched in awhile. And I don't watch games live much anymore, for the reasons already expressed (tough to keep my attention through a 17 minute intermission, but I am happy to zip through it on a recorded version.)

The goalie, Spencer Knight, stole the game. As did at least one clear piper, which would've been a massive momentum shift in the 2nd. The US also almost put the game away about 3 times in the 2nd, which honestly would've been nice, because all the way down to the last 30 seconds of the game, it felt like CAN was going to score and make it a true nail biter.

The third period, apart from a good first few minutes from the US, was almost all CAN. Nerve wracking as all get out.

Was hoping for a repeat of the women's gold medal game in Sochi but Canada never got that first goal to make the Americans nervous.

Read earlier that six players were scheduled to take a chartered flight to California after the game to join Ducks and Kings training camps: two Ducks (one American and one Canadian) and four Kings (two Americans, a Canadian, and a Swede. That's a complicated seating arrangement.

Official all star team:
Stutzle -- Zegras -- Cozens
Byram -- Heinola
Levi

Best goalie: Levi
Best defenseman: Topi Niemela
Best forward: Stutzle

MVP: Zegras

Hoping that at least one of those forwards plays in the NHL this season. I know that they'll be joining their teams' training camps. In a normal year, I would think that Stutzle would help sell tickets, but I guess that's not a concern now. There should still be room for him in the Senators' line-up.

Cozens apparently flying charter from Edmonton->Buffalo today which would somehow bypass quarantine rules. I'm guessing the NHL job is his to lose over the next week (esp with the likely season-ending injury to Girgensons yesterday in Sabres practice)

Does the US or NY have quarantine rules?

I know you are partial to goalies. And Knight was great. But, that is a bad take. Our boys deserved the win as a team.

I don't know that either team's skaters deserved it more or less, but Canada definitely shouldn't have been shut out. Knight was really great, especially in the mid-to-late 2nd when things could have turned back.

Well, you know, he got player of the game for the US and, also... When I say stole the game, I wasn't trying to imply it was all against the run of play. The forwards, in particular, busted their ass all game and the shot blocking in the second and third was higher level.

I'll stand by Stood on his Head and we can agree to agree... Amazing win last night.

NY does. Ten-day quarantine that can be tested out of by negative test results both before traveling to NY and after a three-day quarantine after arriving in the state.

Maybe Cozens can pretend that he's been in Buffalo all along. Just don't tell anybody that he was in Edmonton. Show up at training camp wearing an 'I ♥ (Western) NY' t-shirt. It's worth a shot.

I loved hearing the USA bench celebrating after blocked shots last night.

There was a really tremendous play in the 3rd where it looked like Byfield got wide and the d-man recovered and cut him off but seeing the number and realizing it was a Flyers prospect (York) ruined it for me.

A few Swampers would log valuable ice time for the Sens.

Stutzle, Thomas Chabot playing about 55 minutes per game, The More Tolerable Tkachuk. I'm starting to like the Sens.

And Matt Murray is their shiny new goalie. I hope he can bounce back and become reliable again. Not sure how realistic that is. And I would love to hear him give an honest interview about his time in Pittsburgh. I'm sure he doesn't have the highest regard for Penguins fans.

Max as well. Though not sure he'd lace up for a "highest bidder"Tm Atlantic Division rival.

Bad news. USA has to forfeit today's game against Switzerland and tomorrow in doubt too. I can't see how this tournament is completed by the weekend.

Reading more on this, apparently hotel where the teams are staying didn't have the foresight* to shut down their conference center prior to tournament. By honoring these commitments, they've exposed the teams to dozens (if not more) of people, including a wedding reception.

* It's highly likely they just said fuck it, we're not taking money off the table.
