I'm pretty psyched that he got booted from Sunday Night Baseball. He doesn't talk about politics or religion during those telecasts, but he's just a really irritating announcer. Now I'm just crossing my fingers that John Kruk favorited some of Schilling's Confederate flag posts, and ESPN will really be making progress.

Yeah, that's another thing. It's a huge straw man in light of the fact that we've been at war with these people for 13 years. It's so easy to say "Islam" is bad when you offer absolutely zero solutions.

I'd like to see Shilling offer up something like this:

"They've been hitting our fastball. Why not throw a curve in a fastball count, like by not sending our military forces into middle eastern countries for a few decades, and see what happens?"

Now that would be a baseball-oriented analysis.

ESPN has suspended Schilling for the rest of the year. People on Twitter said that he was favoriting "boycott ESPN" posts, so I'd be surprised if he ever comes back to ESPN. My guess is that he predictably ends up with Fox.

Fox News is a separate animal. All of the other divisions aren't like that at all. I mean...Glee?

Fair enough. But Fox did hire Pete Rose as part of its baseball coverage, so they clearly aren't shy about bringing on controversial analysts.

I just assume Kruk's employment with ESPN is tied to some line item in a Congressman Robert C. Byrd bill in order to promote West VA.

To come full circle on Curt Schilling, he's giving the prayer at New Hampshire this Sunday before the race.

I have responded appropriately.

At worst, it was seen as a comparison between a religion and set of beliefs.
Isn't "a set of beliefs" just about the simplest possible definition of religion?

Absolutely. I was simply trying to separate Islam/Nazism with different terms.

Lest we think his political views are the most objectional thing about him, Deadspin is doing an ongoing forensic report on that whole time he got $75 million of state funds to start a video game studio which then went bankrupt and left all its employees out of work.

Also, I'm still taken aback by how completely shitty he looks nowadays. Has an ex-athlete other than an NFL lineman ever aged worse?

The best are the OL who reverse age, where they retire, drop 75 pounds and look great.

Chris Broussard must have dirt on someone at ESPN to still have a job there. I've never seen a reporter get things wrong as often as him. Earlier this afternoon, he posted this on Twitter:
@Chris_Broussard: NBA SOURCES CONFIRM AGENT RICH PAUL WILL HAVE TRISTAN THOMPSON SIGN A 3 YEAR - $53 MILLION CONTRACT WITH CAVS.
Then, after a Cavs beat writer from Akron reported that this was wrong, Broussard changed his report to:
@Chris_Broussard: Sources: Tristan Thompson is WILLING to sign a 3-year, $53 million deal with the Cavs. Cavs have not yet agreed to the deal.
I don't know what's worse, how often he gets things wrong or how often he "reports" stories that another outlet (usually Yahoo) has already broken first.

Obviously that sucks either way, but the higher the number the more grim the diagnosis is, right? Like IV is worse than II?

As Christopher Hitchens said "There is no Stage V".

Honestly not sure what the joke is. Does it have something to do with wondering if Bert Farv's sperm causes throat cancer?

Yep. And too bad no ESPN exec said, "We're talking sports stuff, not politics" before they aired that dumbass tribute a few months ago to George W. Bush throwing out a first pitch at Yankee Stadium. He may've started an unnecessary war that killed hundreds of thousands and displaced millions, but he sure can paint the outside corner of the plate!

Great job ESPN!
Fox broadcaster Erin Andrews took the stand today in the trial over her civil suit against the Nashville hotel where she was videotaped undressing through her hotel room peephole. In one of the most frightening bits of testimony in a case full of them, Andrews explained how ESPN—her employer at the time—forced her to discuss the issue on national television, against her will, before she was allowed to return to her broadcasting duties.
To be fair, there were Swampers who accused her of orchestrating the whole thing to advance her career, too. Everybody sucks!

Mostly on places with troglodytes like Barstool Sports though. And Twitter eggs, etc.

Skip Bayless leaving ESPN in August. That's the good news. The bad news is I doubt he's leaving for Myanmar, never to return to TV anywhere.

Fox Sports 1. Former ESPN head who ushered in the "First Take" era now runs that network and has already brought in Cowherd and is shifting toward "debate".

Unless he's broadcasting Big Ten or soccer games there, he'll be easy to ignore so good riddance.

The Fox Sports Christmas party is going to be pretty awkward when Troy Aikman finds himself standing next to Bayless in the buffet line, what with Bayless having written a book claiming that Aikman was/is gay.

Thankfully, these are on one page, not a clickbait slideshow.
