I read that the the DeSantis appt is all predicated on him appointing Lara Trump to Marco Rubio's vacated Senate seat.
But do go on about how Biden's pardon of Hunter is completely beyond the pale.
Sorry...back to SPORTS!

I had this working theory a few months ago that djt would attempt to annex Canada because: 1) he wants to be putin 2) there's nothing to stop him once he pulls out of all the treaties 3) he'd love that as a legacy 4) lots of resources when that ice melts 5) makes a big country on a map
So just looked up the odds: 20/1, behind Israel, PR, and US Virgins

I'm in a planning meeting for next year, and just had the realization that Trump Inauguration Day 2.0 falls on Martin Luther King day.
I'm sure that he and his MAGA goons will honor MLK in the most appropriate way possible.

a known cunt does a cunty thing as his walk-off moment and let's shoehorn this into what argument exactly?
Re: We Doing This Shit Again? (Trump Admin Meltdown II)
I think it speaks to the looooooong standing debate over "the party needs to fucking check this guy" versus "everyone be super nice so sometimes he won't fuck things up and when that happens everyone celebrate him and thus make him one of the most singularly powerful senators".

According to Hegseth, the 2025 Pay Harassers and Assault Reporters Plenty program will institute a policy to protect drunken service members — particularly men — who find themselves being lured in by wicked temptresses and vixens to engage in rough sex the men don’t consent to, only to see those treacherous women filing superfluous and fake police reports later.

let's see how far the "eliminate time changes twice a year" thing gets

I can't determine with a majority of certainty which one is Daylight Saving Time, either the winter or the summer. I just deal with the time change. If it's anything like the Infrastructure Weeks, I guess we'll be still changing our clocks at least until 2029.

DST is in the summer. Y’know, when it is daylight longer into the evening.L-Jam3 wrote: Fri Dec 13, 2024 5:41 pm I can't determine with a majority of certainty which one is Daylight Saving Time, either the winter or the summer. Re: We Doing This Shit Again? (Trump Admin Meltdown II)
Then what daylight are we saving? It's the same amount of daylight.
In all seriousness, though, I don't have any issue with it. If we stay on winter time, then the sun starts breaking through around 4 am in the summer, and is fully up before 5. If we stay on summer time, then the sun doesn't start coming up until after 8 am in the winter. Just fucking deal with it. If the whole idea is to get sunrise within an 60-75 minutes of 6 am either way then just keep it as it is.

I thought DST was the one that was more popular, and people wanted to get rid of the regular time.
Re: We Doing This Shit Again? (Trump Admin Meltdown II)
I'm pretty sure we'd be permanently in the times we are in right now.
Personally, I'd love for Arizona to be in the same time zone as California (DST), but it would probably align with Utah/Colorado.

It's more popular because it's the one we have in the summer when days are longer. People are dumb.Rex wrote: Fri Dec 13, 2024 6:39 pm I thought DST was the one that was more popular, and people wanted to get rid of the regular time.
Totally Kafkaesque
Re: We Doing This Shit Again? (Trump Admin Meltdown II)
I know that we have already tried to do a single time all year, and everyone hated it, though I think that was DST. I find it hard to believe that people will like having the sun go down an hour earlier for 7 months out of the year, but hey, have at it.
Re: We Doing This Shit Again? (Trump Admin Meltdown II)
I’m really surprised to see Trump wading into this because he, of all people, should appreciate Americans’ unlimited ability to complain about any change to their routine.

Re: We Doing This Shit Again? (Trump Admin Meltdown II)
things like evening golf leagues and other outdoor activities in the summer that can't rely on lights will totally have to be overhauled if we stuck with standard time all year. and evening league golfers are his base!Rex wrote: Fri Dec 13, 2024 8:46 pm I know that we have already tried to do a single time all year, and everyone hated it, though I think that was DST. and then if we went on DST all year, people would be even more miserable in the mornings with the sun rising at basically 9 a.m. for some people in the northern part of the country
people hate the time changes, but there's also no good solution. the only real compromise is moving the clocks a half hour and calling it good, but even then, that doesn't totally fix anything. it sounds good in theory to say "let's get rid of moving the clocks back and forward" but then there's no clear choice of what time to pick

Even better, people can quit bitching about it and focus their attention on shit that actually affects people.

tbf, I think the time changes do "affect people" because of how sleep habits are impacted around the time changes. and also further proof of how/why people will hand wave away things that are bad if they don't personally affect them.

Re: We Doing This Shit Again? (Trump Admin Meltdown II)
It’s only one hour. Go to sleep an hour earlier or an hour later the night before. Haven’t these people ever travelled a time zone over?
When you have to go to the East Coast for a race, does it fuck your up for days on end that you say to yourself “why isn’t everything on Kansas City time?” No. You deal with it.

Re: We Doing This Shit Again? (Trump Admin Meltdown II)
The entire country of India, the most populous country in the world, operates on a single time zone, offset by 30 min from most other time zones. They seem to handle it OK.
