The notes on the real-time playlist (from when John replayed it this morning...I missed the in-studio yesterday...stupid work meetings) say it was from 2011, but never released. They've been playing it on this current tour.
Good quote: "And I’m right at Broadway: a white, straight, American dude from the Midwest. Nobody’s coming for me. To be aware of that, and to then try to write songs where you are overly sympathizing with your own issues—it’s scary territory, feeling sorry for yourself. It’s definitely thin ice that I’m on."

I mean, I guess, if I have to, sure, I'll go see the National play Boxer in it's entirety, one day after seeing them play all their other stuff. Sure, I'll do it from VIP.

I very much hope this doesn't actually make it into production.
Yeah, I kind of agree with you. I'm all about learning as much as possible about something I love, and I enjoyed Mistaken for Strangers, the doc/mock-umentary, but this feels like a bit much.
I'm sure I'll watch though.

ID10T podcast with Chris Hardwick is with CHVRCHES (Lauren Mayberry and Martin Doherty) and Matt Berninger today.
I wanted to like the new CHVRCHES song that he sings on but it really doesn't do it for me. The other new CHVRCHES song I've heard on S/XM is great though.
I don't know quite how to phrase this, but whenever he collaborates outside of The National it sounds like someone tried to write a song that sounds like it would have Berninger on it? Like this one is dark, but its simple and surface level dark, not his very specific brand of aging comfortable guy darkness?

Also, she's super cute and talented but I've always compared them directly to Haerts because they both came onto my radar at the same time as female lead SEO driven bands and I think Fabi has the better voice and "Wings" is a better song than whatever Chvrches best is.

With Sleep Well Beast, I'm at that amazing point that occurs with all National albums where you've put the new one aside for a bit, and are just getting back in and it's all marinated for a bit and is just so good. The real sweet spot.
I'll Still Destroy You is rocketing up my list of their best songs.

Going to be honest, I saw $50 and just X right out of there. What could I get that would make it worth paying?
Got an email saying that Cherry Tree members with tickets to the show would be allowed to watch soundcheck in St. Augustine tomorrow. Guess who blew his babysitting wad last weekend, watching the National in Cincy?

The most daddest of the collection of soccer dads I occasionally see at practices (craft beer discussions, NHL talk, efforts to sign kids up on Goodreads) was wearing a t-shirt last night.
