Just had my 4th MRI on my back the other day. Still awaiting results.

My back has been in miserable pain since a late August trip to ABQ to our friend's place and waking up in a very comfortable bed. I guess I should've slept on the floor.

It subsided until the other day after doing some light shoulder to overhead lifting. Now I'm having excruciating pain getting out of bed and driving the 30 minutes to work every day and taking far too long to get out of the driver's seat.

I'm 41. But hey, I can do 35 minutes on the stairmaster at a 5/6 speed, so that's a win.

You might have to give the Sarno book a read. I think it was WLU that recommended it a long time ago (previous swamps at least) and it helped me at the time. Not as much as losing 40+ pounds but definitely helped in the interim.

And I had a bad issue with a shoulder hurting all the time earlier this year, so I went to a chiropractor and that set me good with a basic adjustment. Turned out it was my pillow that was causing me to have the nagging pain. I figured that part out by accident.

I've had some issues to lately which I think are related to how I'm sleeping. But it's weird cause I've used the same pillow for 22 years.

Like, the same one, or the same model. If it's the former, I think I know your problem.

I went through this a few months ago. I used a wedge or pillow between my knees or thighs (I moved it around) and it appeared to do the trick.

I'll be giving that book a try. I was also told of a great chiropractor locally that I intend to sell treatment from.

Thanks for the rec.

It molded me into the rational thinking, well-adjusted adult I've become.

I was 16. I really felt the effects of the loss as I got into parenting my older son as a teenager since I didn't really have that as a teen myself. I felt lost and still feel do some times when it comes to him. He turns 24 this week.

In a couple of years he can provide you with the wisdom and guidance that comes from being raised as a young adult with a good father.

In the past when you’ve written about losing your father young, it’s been incredibly similar to my father’s comments. It actually helped me understand him and relate to him better. He was 21, just married and had to identify the body, handle all of the funeral arrangements and legal follow-up. He was traumatized and never dealt with it.

I'm pretty sure that sentence has been used about me as well. I'M FINE!!!

Thanks for the kind thoughts. I hope you are right. He's a lot more like his mom. And that's a good thing.

I may mean third row. It's the guy hunched over like a college girl on the end. Fuck that may even be the 4th row. head's right next to the tree trunk in the background.

This past weekend I sailed with a new, much younger group of people (but on a boat I'd raced on in the past...has a new owner now).

Anyways, I'm doing mast, working with this kid (he's 25) Nils who is doing the bow. Nice kid...he's a Merchant Mariner, lives here in Seattle about 6-8 months out of the year, from here.

At the Yacht Club after racing, we are talking...and it turns out I've raced in the way past with both his father and his uncle. And I remembered that I had known him back when he was but a toddler.
