A long time ago in a Swamp far, far away, I was introduced to this album by an old coal miner (or, he might have been a communications guy for a coal company). So, props to that guy (I think his name was AB the Intoxicated), as I am now a big fan of Todd Snider. East Nashville Skyline.

This song has been covered by both Jason Isbell and Robert Earl Keen, but I like Todd's (original) version best.

Indianapolis by The Bottle Rockets (band chosen by BFJ in our draft, but different album)
...Can't go west, can't go east
I'm stuck in Indianapolis with a fuel pump that's deceased
Ten days on the road now I'm four hours from my home town
Is this hell or Indianapolis with no way to get around

Sitting in this bar is getting more than I can stand
If I could catch a ride I really think I'd ditch this van
Who knows what this repair will cost, scared to spend a dime
I'll puke if that jukebox plays John Cougar one more time...

Sorry for the delay....had a fuck-all of a day: Went into work at 5am to finish up some software that I had to demo at 1pm, and to be deployed for use over the weekend. Nothing like furiously adding features 15 minutes before the demo.

Anyways...here's my pick. Gotta have some sweet sweet soul music. The Late, Great Sharon Jones and The Dap-Kings.

A surprise to no one, BSF needs more Americana. I personally have a soft spot for Bulletproof, but this is their magnum opus. I suggest pouring yourself a big ass glass of bourbon and listening to this thing front to back this evening on a warm porch.

BSF's "If I could find this on Vinyl I could die happy" Friday selects:

Reckless Kelly - Wicked Twisted Road

And not on the album but needs to be listened to:

Dances with Wolves (1) - BSF

"This place was rockin'," said BSF21.

Most of the Canterbury Scene can be described as such. Check out Hatfield & The North or Soft Machine.

ETA some might remember the third track [Love To Love You (and Tonight Pigs Will Fly)] as the theme for some SwampCasts of the past.

Sorry, at the beach and lost track.

I'm going with an album that was the sound track of my freshman year of high school. Listening to it recently, still stands up.

Yaz - Upstairs at Erics

Meant to add that over in Europe, they were known as Yazoo, but a copyright issue forced them to change the name in the US market. Here, pep up your Tuesday morning.

First take after two songs: NMH is the Decemberists if the decemberists didn't know how to play instruments.

Second take: hey this third song is pretty cool!

Third take: What the fuck is wrong with you people?

Fourth take: Noise. this is noise.

Don't want to offend anyone, but I didn't like it either. But then again, I'm pretty much repelled by the sound of the acoustic guitar.
