I'm sure that the media will cover this the same way as if Biden did it. But don't get me wrong...

The more people hear him, the more trouble the Republican ticket is in. No wonder they are throwing everything they have at him. He’s an absolutely perfect running mate for Harris.

I noticed there's a big social media trend that Trump's assassination attempt was staged.

Probably nothing but some lefties making it trend.

But it made me wonder when the investigation/report is wrapping.

That's weird. I hope that doesn't become a thing. The shooter died.

Yeah, I've been seeing dribs and drabs of that since it happened. I think it's ridiculous. Of course, Trump not having any obvious wound or scar is weird, but it's quite a leap to go from that to saying it was faked.

I just can't make any conspiracy nonsense around it make sense. Unless the shooter really didn't die. etc. Like, what, they talked some true believer into basically a kamikaze type way to go out where he takes a careful shot near DT but not really actually hitting him and knows he will die when the authorities get to him for taking the shot and he agreed to all that just to give Trump a photo op? Like, yeah. Even for conspiracy nuts, that's really out there.

When it happened I said I thought we were fucked - that would seal it for Trump. I was obviously really wrong there. But it has been odd how little ripples from that event actually occurred. Whole thing is strange. I guess Biden unexpectedly announcing he would not seek a second term when he did really did take the air out of it. But other than some maxipads on people's ears at the RNC, it has become a real non-event. The American political scene remains a horrific fever dream like it has been even since asshole rode that escalator down to announce he was running in 2015.

Could you imagine pre-Trump if someone told you large numbers would attend the GOP Convention with maxipads on their ears. Or wear diapers as a sign of supporting a presidential nominee?

And two other spectators were hit, one fatally. It was a real shooting. I think the only thing fake is the amount of damage Trump took. He did have blood immediately, but it must have been the most minor of grazings. Those bullets have a lot of energy and if it had dug into the skin at all, it would have left a real wound, especially on an old dude.

It seems the most likely scenario at this point isn’t that a bullet grazed Trump’s ear but rather shrapnel from his Teleprompter or something else hit by a bullet.

No less scary for him to be sure and no less horrific of a crime but not quite as close a call as it first appeared.

Weird. Mean. Stupid.

And I can't even follow the joke.

This feels like it plays into the JD Vance is a creepy couch-lover than any burn on Walz.

It's not even a joke, per se, GC. It seems to be an open brag that Vance got his wife pregnant without needing IVF like Walz and his wife did to have one of their two children...

Again, just a really REALLY fucking weird flex or "burn" for them to trot out.

I know they're just fucking morons, but, honestly... Ridiculing prospective parents over IFV??

It's just so self-defeating and dumb. They really do think that the entire point of politics is to upset the other side. It's just a bizarre approach and I think they're seeing in the polling trends that is a losing approach.

Remember that bolded part. That's the key to just about everything they do. They are all wannabe bullies and assholes. Like... They don't realize it, but they are on the side of Biff Tannen and Draco Malfoy.

So weird.

Naw, they are proud of JD’s semen sample. I get why Walz would make sense for needing a sample cup, but why would they want to walk around holding Walz’ jizz? And they can’t hold Trump’s jizz, because it’s evidence in too many potential crimes.

Getting Steve Kerr at the DNC was brilliant.

Not only for the Chicago aspect, but for the Olympic pride aspect.

The crowd chanting USA, USA, USA is such a stark comparison to the MAGA America hatred.

It makes me wonder if I should finally get one of those "Love It Or Leave It" shirts.

But, uh, he's 81. And it's getting late. That's kinda funny they couldn't figure this out ahead of time.

The Teamsters haven’t endorsed Harris. I think that’s the reason he wasn’t asked to speak (rather than that he did speak at the Republican convention.)

I have had "brushes" with that guy. But the story doesn't belong in the "Brushes With Greatness" thread for obvious reasons.
