Just watched the first episode of the new MST3K on Netflix.

Patton Oswalt plays the "Igor" role to the diabolical woman who sends the bad movies up to the space station, which apparently docks on the moon. Wil Wheaton had a cameo at the beginning of this episode..So far, so good.

How realistic are New York apartments on TV shows?

Season three premier of The Leftovers was great. Have a feeling when it's all said and done, it's going to go down as one of the great limited-run series in TV history, up there with Terriers and a few others.

I can't be the only one here who watches and is enjoying the hell out of Riverdale. Especially with hot Miss Grundy.

Big Little Lies was well done (especially the acting) but I feel like I would have enjoyed it more had it just gone full dark comedy. Same cast, same setting, just with the central mysteries adjusted so that they're a little (a lot) less dark.

I think Baskets is the most underrated show on TV.

I was really curious about this show. Amazing cast, and it looked like it had potential, but it also looked like it could be a slick Soap Opera style show for the ladies.

I watched the first 5 or so episodes of Baskets and kind of forgot about it. It was super bizarre, in a great way, but it didn't go anywhere. Louis Anderson playing Zach G's mother might be the best character ever. One day I'll circle back.

All the characters are so well-drawn. No show will break your heart as much in a 22-minute show.

Apologies if it has been discussed. I find Brockmire hysterical. Anyone else watching?

ETA- Sorry, went back a page and found the talk of the show. "Who knew the sign for the old heater made a pretty good but plug"?

I need to watch Brockmire. Listened to Hank Azaria on KFC Radio (Barstool Sports) and it sounded hysterical just from their dialogue about it.

It was bad father night last evening at the sancarlos household. Wife is out of town, so daughter and I hunkered down on the couch and watched a few episodes of Rick and Morty. With my daughter right next to me, there were a few awkward laughs.

They were just on Simmons's podcast last week. I couldn't stop laughing. I bet the show is just as awesome.

Very funny, though I suspect it's much better when stoned.

I was honestly on the fence about Brockmire until the episode where he uses his anger to incite a bench-clearing brawl that almost turns into a full on ethnic cleansing by the end of the episode. That was just some incredible stuff.

As good as that scene is, there's one later in the episode where he sounds like an insane third-world dictator trying to incite his followers to commit mass murder. It's hard to describe but hilarious (in the context of the show).

Brilliant move getting her out of the White House.

The second and third seasons are a lot less bleak. Basically the show got a shit ton better once they weren't following the novel any longer.

Halfway through the first season was when Mimi Leder stepped in as co-showrunner and also as director for a lot of episodes. She's amazingly talented, and helped Lindelof and Perotta find their vision and stride.

The show is truly outstanding, but i get why it isn't widely watched. But damn, its good.

ETA:

Here is The Ringer piece on Leder - well worth a read:

Caught the first 3 episodes of Brockmire, and man is it dark/weird/hilarious. I love Hank Azaria and Amanda Peet, and it is all character driven about the 2 of them. The kid intern is awesome, too. The kid plays it perfectly, quietly hanging back, slightly in shock and awe at everything Brockmire says. It actually has a similar feel to it as Baskets, not sure how to describe it. The way Brockmire describes depraved sexual encounters in the Philippians (I think) with emotional detachment and without breaking his exaggerated announcer inflection is genius. Thanks for the recommendation.

There is just something super sexual about Amanda Peet, beyond her physical attractiveness.
