There have been December tornado outbreaks historically. Not common, but happen.

Current road conditions here will never not remind me of the time I thought my (non-racist) mother warned me to "watch out for black guys" when I was leaving one night in HS or on college break to meet up with friends.

Did you read-end someone that evening because you were trying to figure out why your mom would say something like that?

The last couple of winters they brined the shit out of the roads in town at the merest whisper of winter weather, but we got nothing around here last night. Not sure if they missed the forecast or if our DPW is COVID'd.

If you were a girl you'd have heard that far more often.

Got the call at 6:50 that they were delaying school by 30 minutes to let DPW salt. 10 minutes later they called a snow day. Curious why they didn't go remote instead. They once held remote school during a snow storm when we were fully remote anyways, and parents freaked out that they should let kids enjoy a snow day. Today is cold and rainy with no snow, just icy roads.

"Teachers are not prepared to instruct remotely on no notice" would be the reason I imagine for this. They allow for five (or however many) snow days, anyway.

We were in Santa Fe over New Years and there was a big snowfall on NYE. The next morning we decided to go to this sledding hill halfway up the mountain because we did that two years ago in very similar circumstances with no issue. Not my best idea, but the beer tasted extra good when we got back because I really thought we were going to have a disaster.

I drank so much LaBatt's in college. It's the worst. The taste of a hangover. But, at $1/bottle or $3/pitcher, it was a great deal. Maybe it was just Koch's Golden Anniversary that went for $3 pitchers.

Expecting 3-5 inches starting at midnight, so I'll be shocked if the kids go to school. On the plus side, you don't see any black ice in the 3-5 inch range.

Ah, the "ice" phase of the 90s. I always thought Bud Ice was the gold standard because of the super cool bottle.

It was all about the super-high alcohol content of 5%! So crazy that in the days I drank with the purpose of getting wasted, 5% was high alcohol, now it's called a "session beer" so can drink it without getting a buzz. I don't recall ever drinking Bud Ice. In college we'd go to the Duty Free to pick up Molson Brador at a whopping 6%. My high school friends always went Beast Ice or Genny Ice. Both horrendous.

Went to MI a few years back and picked some up at the Duty Free. It was a really good bottom of the cooler beer.

Told the family I was stopping by the store on the way home so let me know if you need anything. Oldest replied "White Claw Surge".

Brought a tear to my eye. AND I'm wearing the same sweatshirt as in the O Holy Night video rass made.

ETA: This was the road I was going to be driving on.

You know, you not being on the road could've been the reason there were so many cars. Maybe only three cars crash had you gone. Maybe none? Selfish, AB.

I don't know if your college experience included Molson XXX at 7.3%(!). 'Twas a good accelerant to play catch-up after arriving in Niagara Falls well after sundown.

Not only have I had that in upstate NY, but I've also used it as a catch-up and then threw it up off a 3rd floor balcony. Couldn't quite get the angle to hit the balcony below, but fun nonetheless.

Oh, hell yes. Many a Molson XXX back in the day. I don't recall the Black Bull, though. We kept it Gangsterrrr with the Olde English. Shocked it is listed as 5.9-8%. Both that it is that low, and so inconsistent they need to list it at a range.

One of my old school favorite beers, Samichlaus, is labeled as malt liquor due to high alcohol content. I think it's just a high alcohol doppelbock. Malt liquor isn't a style, just a name for high alcohol beer. Not sure why some are labelled malt liquor and others are equally high ABV and labelled by the actual style. I've seen barley wines labelled as malt liquor, too. I'm guessing different states have different requirements.
