My wife was jonesing for pumpkin ice cream and since we’re doing a soft boycott of the ice cream place in town that has a pretty good version but where my kid exited employment under not great circumstances I got the TJs version and it’s pretty good. Frozen pumpkin pie.

Yes. And I think they were pretty solid (if not pushing the boundaries of what could or should be an ice cream flavor) and we could walk there and I miss the chocolate covered frozen bananas.

This employment thing is a trend I've noticed a lot with my oldest. We no longer support Enterprise Rent-a-Car after a dishonest manager experience.

I was an ERAC manager. Lots of shadiness in that company.

Note: while I like the basic TJ pasta as much as any other basic supermarket pasta, their fancy ones are not good and fall apart when you boil them.

No. It's the organic artisan italian pasta line.

Yeah that’s great. The crust does grease up whatever you bake it on though.

I just place the baking sheet near the sink and usually by the next morning it's clean and back where it needs to be.

Had some last evening. That's some damn good frozen pizza. (As always, cook on bottom rack if you like a crispy crust).

This is fantastic and also there’s no way they can continue with the red peppers included. I’m pretty spice-tolerant and these are hitting hard.

I’m excited for that Tom Yum snack mix! I was pissed the last time I went, they discontinued the South African Smoke spice mix and the Hatch Chile flakes! I’m on my last dregs of both! I see someone selling the Smoke one on eBay. $34 for a 5 ounce grinder. Fuck off!

I got parsley from Trader Joe's. And it was the best parsley I've ever eaten. So much more firm and tasty than the sad limp stuff you get - even from farmer's markets or Whole Foods. Also lasted forever in my fridge.

It is worth the trip alone.

Also a big fan of the pre-cooked lentils they have in produce.

Got the Tom Yum mix, and it’s everything I hoped it’d be, thanks for the tip. Only had a handful, but didn’t find it spicy. The TJ Takis my daughter made me get are spicier, and their Ghost Pepper potato chips are way hotter.

This is like the 180 opposite of my Trader Joe’s experiences. The awful “anything not boxed” is why I rarely go for anything fresh.

It’s not the seasoning that’s spicy, it’s the actual chunks of red peppers in it. You’ll hit one and I will be vindicated!

Interesting, didn't see any. [walks to kitchen, digs through bag to find a pepper to eat]. Yeah, that was hot as fuck. I'm a guy who usually has around 10 open bottles of hot sauce in my fridge to have the right one for every meal, and that was hotter than I'd want in a snack, so I can't imagine how most people would react to it. It looked like a dried version of the peppers in greasy spoon Chinese dishes like General Tso's, but it was way hotter. Looking at the bag, there is no indication that the snack is spicy, which is odd if you are putting those bad boys in there. There is a warning not to eat the silicone bag inside for freshness. There should probably be a warning about the peppers. It seems likes they are meant to season by being in the bag, but not meant to be eaten, because they have the texture completely dried out wood shards.

Long story short... Total vindication. And I hope they don't discontinue, because they are really fucking good.

I just found a 3/4” long one and I’m scared. I grew some Thai peppers last summer and I think these are them. I’d only use like 1/4” in an entire stir fry.

Are these dried peppers? Because I can't think of many worse textures than non-rehydrated dried peppers beyond like flake size.

Yes but the texture gets lost in the overall crunch with the other ingredients.

One I ate was over an inch. I was thinking Thai Birds Eye chili pepper, but looking up Thai peppers, several look like that. Bought a giant bag of them once, made a batch of Chili once combining traditional Tex-Mex with Asian ingredients including Birds Eye chilis.

And yes to Mister D, the texture is awful in a snack mix.
