But he is dreamy.

I looked up that show. I've seen it before, but it had a different name (and wasn't disneyfied). It was called The Patty Duke Show.

I have a friend who looks just like the nerdy one. I suppose she could look like the other one if she so chose.

Met Patrick Pass tonight. Our kids are in the same 3rd grade class apparently. Nice guy. Fortunately, he wasn't the dad in the Batman costume leading the line dances. He was the dad wearing sweats and his daughter's tiara. It's an appropriate level of cool dad.

New backup(?) singer for KP and the Boom Boom. I think she just joined the band. The FB page for the band lists their style as Future-soul, whatever that means.

So I have to give you a little color on the interaction. I've been to three different distilleries at this point. Had some samplage. Nothing to get me hammered, but good tastes of high end bourbon. Anyway, I am paying for the Knob Creek that I got to bottle (pretty lame actually...just put it on the belt and then put my thumbprint in the wax) and the lady in front of me finishes paying for her stuff. She motions to a man to come get it while she is going to the bathroom. It's Joe Maddon. I do a double take. Then the conversation plays out like this:

Me: Are you Joe Maddon.
Joe Maddon: Yeah.
Me: I wish you were still playing.
Joe Maddon: Me Too.
(REALLY, AB?!?!?! I WISH YOU WERE STILL PLAYING???!?!
Me: Well, you got a good foundation so good luck next year.
Joe Maddon: Thanks. Good group of guys.

Friend ended up getting a selfie, but I'm content to just being a total doofus.

Heard and interview with Aziz Ansari talking about fans bumping into him. He avoids pictures and tries to engage in conversation because it is more meaningful for both.

Yeah, the friend only got it because his son is a huge baseball fan. Not usually the type to do that either.

I mean, I'm like George Costanza thinking of all the stuff I could have said

- Went to my first Cubs game earlier this year, super cool
- Man Bryant and Schwarber are gonna be fun to watch develop
- Welcome to Kentucky, hope you enjoy your stay

Pretty much anything except the exact thing I ended up saying. Instead, I did the equivalent of the fucking Big Gulp scene in Dumb and Dumber.

He seems like the coolest guy ever. I heard him on a podcast talking about this, and he genuinely seems to like talking to fans. He talked about all of the celebs he geeked out on when meeting them, and all the stupid things he blubbered, so he totally relates to fans that do this when approaching him. I always try to pretend I don't recognize them, as I am worried about bothering them. The one time I wanted to was when I was moving a friend into her apartment, and Mike Myers walked by 4 or 5 times. It was shortly after his divorce, and he was talking to a friend and looked sullen, so I didn't. I had some witty comment lined up, asking for help moving. Can't remember what it was, but I'm sure it was inspired. We both ended up doing a head nod when he saw I recognized him. Jeans, black t-shirt and an NHL hat. Not much or a disguise.

"You're in hockey, right?"

"Yup."

"So that was EJ Hradek who got off (the train) earlier, huh?"

"It was."

"I'm sorry, what's your name?"

"John MacLean."

I am the worst.

At least you knew who Johnny Mac was. He was pretty good back in his day. Had one good season with the Sharks at the end of his career, too.

He gave a homeless dude sitting near us $20 so, despite being part of the terrible NJ to NY pipeline, he's alright in my book.

Had about a 20-minute chat with Kevin Mackey at the Carrier Dome last night. He's a scout for the Pacers now, but he'd been at the Dome previously and had a pretty good day.

I was about 3 feet from the reigning AL Cy Young winner yesterday. His SO is somewhat hot. Baseball players always throw me off because most of them look normal size unlike basketball or a lot of football players.

I went through about 20 iterations of that sentence before typing.

I was running in one direction, Joe Maddon came biking along from the other direction. I stuck out my hand to wave, and say, "Hey Joe". He nodded.

The organization I work for held a fundraising leadership conference yesterday. I had the chance to meet Mia Hamm, Matt Eversmann (Blackhawk Down main character), Marin Alsop (conductor of the Balto Symphony Orchestra, John Harbaugh and Buck Showalter. Very cool people, all of them.
