The unwritten rules say no good home run admiration can go unpunished, so, in his next at-bat, Archer threw a pitch behind Dietrich. The message? Don't rub it in when you have success, which is certainly not something Chris Archer would ever be caught doing on a baseball field.

I'm more annoyed by the 10 o'clock games -- bad weather had been a challenge, but that's why they schedule some off days early in the season.

This is nice

Now that Chris Archer is in the NL and these unwritten rules aren’t going anywhere, I hope he takes a change-up to the ribs later this season.

The air must be high in Denver. The Dodgers just allowed the Rockies to score because Kike Hernandez forgot how many outs there were.

Now Blackmon misses a towering fly ball.

Weird things happen in this ballpark.

BALTIMORE -- Orioles first baseman Chris Davis is nearing a record streak for futility.

Davis was 0-for-4 with two strikeouts in Sunday's 15-3 loss to the New York Yankees. He is 0-for-23 with 13 strikeouts this season and is hitless in 44 at-bats since a second-inning double off James Shields of the Chicago White Sox last Sept. 14.

Davis is two shy of the record for consecutive hitless at-bats by a position player, according to the Elias Sports Bureau. Los Angeles Dodgers infielder Eugenio Velez went hitless in his final 46 at-bats of the 2011 season, one more than the previous mark shared by Pittsburgh's Bill Bergen (1909), Dave Campbell of San Diego and St. Louis (1973) and Milwaukee's Craig Counsell (earlier in 2011).

He’s the absolute best and one of the few on that team over the last few years who apparently gives a shit.

I'm sorry but there is nothing in sports right now that is more exciting than this Chris Davis streak. He's tied the record now. Do they have Eugenio Velez in the building?

Baseball teams don’t understand sunk costs. He is demonstrably worse than their AAA third baseman surely.

That’s what I’m saying. They owe that regardless. So why not playbwhoever is better?

Since Davis' last hit.

570 different MLB players have gotten a hit
55 of them were pitchers

If (not when) Davis gets a hit, will he get a standing ovation? Has to right? Which will be just be embarrassing because you know it will be blooper or ground ball with eyes.

Also what do you think it is like being in the dugout or locker room with him right now. He must be going nuts with people just not even sure what to say to him and trying every crazy method to hit the ball. I was thinking there was a scene with Crash Davis but then realized I was thinking about Tin Cup.

Also the O's drew 6,585. That is the lowest attendance for a game at Camden Yards in an open-attendance game (could not think of a game that did not have open attendance). Yeah they got beat up pretty good this weekend but they are a .500 team right now.

First game after Freddy Gray riots. No one was allowed to attend. They played to an empty stadium.

Flannery was a broadcaster in San Diego while Peavy was there, and Flannery was third base coach in San Francisco while Peavy pitched for the Giants. So, perhaps we can assume they are friends and people who know both of them might ask Flannery about Peavy.
