China have lost a table tennis match. Japan wins the mixed doubles. This is the first time China has not won gold or lost to a non-Chinese opponent since Athens!

So Dortmund hired her as a conditioning coach. At first I was thinking it'd be incredibly distracting, but OTOH could be motivating to impress her. When I was 14 or 15, my travel soccer team had a professional coach who was 23 or 24. His fiance was a yoga instructor, and incredibly hot. He once brought her to a practice and had her teach a yoga session. She wore spandex. Our spank banks were full for a year, and despite all of our pleading, he never brought her to another practice. What the hell was he thinking?

Your running disapproval of the more, let's say... off-color, comments by Syb is one of my favorite Swamp subplots but you're giving, at a minimum, the 80s and 90s too much credit.

I had 1982 in there at first but decided to go a bit further back. I should have just looked up when "Necessary Roughness" premiered.

Scott Bakula, Ireland, Sinbad, Rob Schnider...now where is the oral history of that classic film
edit: Google just answered that and it is not where, but which one to read.

What's even funnier, is that the last time AB called me out on an inappropriate comment, it was immediately after I taught a "Respect in the Workplace" seminar to clients, teaching compassion and understanding of those different than you, sexual harassment prevention and discrimination prevention. Today's comment was written shortly after I completed attending our internal sexual harassment course online. I don't think it's a coincidence. Ironically insensitive comments seem funnier when I am coming out of these classes, and I've been presenting a lot of them lately with even more in the near future, so buckle up AB!

Tuned into men’s water polo last night because the color commentator for NBC the last couple of Olympics, Wolf Wigo, is very closely related to a family our kids hang out with during our shore vacation every year. His mom had gone to Rio and brought a bunch of Olympic branded plastic beer/soda cups back that the kids used to dig in the sand that summer.
Turns out Wolf isn’t working this year and the guy who is couldn’t sound sleepier. I gave him another chance and just listened to a bit of the game on right now and he sounds the same. Super jet-lagged or really green or high or bored.

- Gutty performances, resulting in a silver in Gymnastics. Cheating bastards get the gold, Brits with the bronze. Down 2-0 going into the bottom of the 7th, a stolen HR by the US LF kept it from being more.
ETA: And it's a final from the diamond. Japan's starter pitched like a 1995 Maddux, just putting the ball where they couldn't get good aluminum on it.

It doesn't seem to get a lot of press, but Canada is a damn strong country relative to its size. It has a population smaller than California, yet they seem to be in or around the top ten in the last few summer games. The really punch above their weight class.

Not as good as Australia though. Canada's performance in recent years is more varied with medals in combat sports for example. And it's all women winning the medals so far.
