Pruitt wrote: Wed Apr 22, 2020 6:10 pm So she's a figurehead put in place by the casino companies?
That's actually mostly the truth.

It's complicated, but the mayor of Las Vegas is a largely ceremonial position. It has a strong city manager government, so the mayor is just one person on a seven-person city council with no special authority beyond that. The mayor is essentially the "cheerleader" for Las Vegas, a person to schmooze at this event or that photo op.

So in addition to that, all of the casinos on the Las Vegas Strip aren't in Las Vegas anyway. They're in unincorporated Clark County, which is a different government entity (vastly more powerful than the Las Vegas City Council) and the one who calls the shots on public money for $2 billion stadiums and runs the land The Strip is on. And then there's the governor of Nevada, of course.

So if nothing else, if you're worried about me or the city of Las Vegas, don't. They're insulated by at least three degrees of separation from the mayor of Las Vegas.

All that said, it’s a little weird to have your mayor honestly say they’re perfectly willing to sacrifice your life solely to benefit the economy on national television.

He’s not the most well-spoken or lively Governor, but give me a guy who gets choked up talking about the horror of seeing his fellow citizens die in person over someone like Donald Trump 1 billion times out of a billion.

According to one of the electricians in my house earlier today, Obama is going to be indicted for violating our constitutional rights because of the government's response to Covid-19. I mean, he was wearing a camouflage hat with a Mountain Dew logo on it, so I couldn't argue the logic behind his statement.

Fortunately, the political talk was brief. We mostly talked about my back yard and making maple syrup. They did a good job on the work at least.

Well, they blame Obama for 9-11 and Katrina, so why not blame him for things that happened well after he left office? "Why wasn't Obama in the Oval Office on 9/11? Think that's just a coincidence?"

He has been labeled a "person of suspicion" and he, his wife, and kids are not allowed to leave the house for the next four days for any reason until they get the result of his COVID-19 test. He, of course, has to self-quarantine away from them for those four days, as well.

Good times, especially considering he sued her for divorce in early March after she threatened to take their kids and relocate to California again (they're in the deep suburbs of Atlanta, but met in LA, where she is from).
Test was negative, he's been instructed to continue quarantining for three more days, although I'd recommend forever, considering the governor of his state.

So where did the whole 'Disinfectant' idea come from?

Revealed: leader of group peddling bleach as coronavirus 'cure' wrote to Trump this week
The leader of the most prominent group in the US peddling potentially lethal industrial bleach as a “miracle cure” for coronavirus wrote to Donald Trump at the White House this week.

In his letter, Mark Grenon told Trump that chlorine dioxide – a powerful bleach used in industrial processes such as textile manufacturing that can have fatal side-effects when drunk – is “a wonderful detox that can kill 99% of the pathogens in the body”. He added that it “can rid the body of Covid-19”.

A few days after Grenon dispatched his letter, Trump went on national TV at his daily coronavirus briefing at the White House on Thursday and promoted the idea that disinfectant could be used as a treatment for the virus. To the astonishment of medical experts, the US president said that disinfectant “knocks it out in a minute. One minute!”

Seeing as though its a black church in the picture Ill take the opportunity to say screw you. That would be my church going under... or almost going under but for Arthur Blanks parking needs. Before they could keep the heat pumping while the roof leaks but now itll be cold and wet. I mean its been going since 1882 serving black folks for maybe 5-6 generations but to hell with those very very old ladies who wont have to worry about social interaction if they make it through this thing. I mean they only live their entire week to get dressed up and see one of 50 or so other people in their world that arent dead already. Hallelujah!

To be clear. My shell of what it used to be church doesnt help anyone except the people that get entertained on Sunday, the not very good preachers that eat off our donations and the downright scummy "leaders" that siphon off their cut of the donations while the roof leaks. Purportedly to help rural churches but im guessing some not so altruistic uses as well. But still, its a church and im not sure we need to celebrate its demise.

I qualified my statement. Some churches care about people, some care about being havens for avoiding taxes. If the latter go under, good. If the former, that sucks.
