This almost seems impossible, but HRC was the first First Lady to ever have had a private-sector job before becoming First Lady.

Well, that is impossible. Top of head, Nancy Davis was a working actress. Laura Bush was a librarian, or is that somehow a public sector job? (depends on the library system, the NY Public Library, despite the name, is a private corporation.) Rosalin Carter worked on the damn peanut farm, bookkeeping maybe. That sounds silly.

Oh, Betty Ford ran that rehab hospital.

(I know, I'm just trying to be funny. But the wiki has Betty working a variety of jobs before getting married, including a dancer in the Martha Graham troupe. Pat Nixon too had a variety of part time jobs during college, but she did become a school teacher after graduating college.)

(Jacqueline Bouvier worked too. Photographer/newspaper columnist.)

Of course Barbara Bush was (is?) a longtime minion of our dark lord Satan, prior to delivering His spawn (2), but not sure if that predated marriage. Or if that isn't technically public sector.

Trump Catches Self Briefly Believing Own Campaign Rhetoric
‘Whoa, That Was Scary For A Second There,’ Says Candidate

BETHPAGE, NY—Admitting that he was overcome with terror after realizing what he had done, Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump told reporters he caught himself briefly believing his own campaign rhetoric during a rally Wednesday night. “Oh, Jesus, for a few seconds there I actually found myself agreeing on a deep, personal level with the things I was saying—what the hell was I thinking?” said the shaken GOP frontrunner, recalling with horror that, right in the middle of his speech, he started to readily accept his vows that he would unite the country, force Mexico to finance the construction of a border wall, and eradicate ISIS.

“Wow, I’m not sure how I started buying into that load of bullshit about other countries starting to respect the U.S. if I become president. That’s just so clearly ridiculous. I’ve got to be on my toes a little more and make sure this never happens again.”

Trump also reportedly expressed serious concern that many of his supporters appeared to believe him when he said he would act more presidential if elected. Image

A good perspective from the Nation comparing this Democratic nomination race to 2008.

At this point in 2008, Obama had not yet talked about rural whites clinging to guns and religion, nor had Clinton talked about hard-working Americans, white Americans.

I'm no stand up comedian, but there are certain attributes to a joke that make it stick. Clearly, DeBlasio has no idea about delivery and ends up awkward as shit here. I'm sure his wife is looking at him sideways right about now.

I assumed he was (based on Hillary's had-to-be-scripted "punchline"), this seems to back that assumption up (and is a pretty good take).

So John Kasich was politicking in New York and he took time out to explain some things to a group of ultra-Orthodox students and innocent (very religious bystanders).

He meant well, but someone should shove a havdalah candle up his smug ass.

Why am I only now finding out that Ted Cruz only eats soup? Canned Chunky Soup?
Ted Cruz wrote:When I’m away from the family, in Washington, D.C., my dinner is a can of soup. I have dozens in the pantry.
And this from his wife:
When I married Ted, we got back from our honeymoon, and he went off to the store and came home by himself. And I was completely shocked to see that he arrived back at our apartment with literally 100 cans of Campbell’s Chunky soup. I never bought 100 of anything.

This was shocking to me, so we had a tough conversation about it. I said, “You don’t buy 100 of anything, much less canned soup. We can’t do this. I’ll be making things.” He said, “No, I know you. you won’t be making things.”

So the next morning, it was a weekend morning, I loaded up our car before he woke up and returned every single can. And when I got home, I called my mother just to make sure I’d done the right thing as a newlywed. And she emphatically disagreed with me. And so when Ted opened the pantry, I had to quickly tell him that I would go back and buy those cans again.

And why hasn't his elevated sodium levels killed him by now?

There is just so much wrong about this passage that it makes my head spin...

Never mind the soup, they got married before she'd even been to his place? I guess...

But a woman with two graduate degrees (including an MBA from Harvard), who held what sound like vital positions in and around government calls her mother to see if returning her husband's soup was the right thing to do "as a newlywed?"

And she then replaces his beloved soup because that's what a good little wife does?

Give me strength. Who are these people?
