Found out Vandoliers are playing a free show at Americanafest in Nashville on Thursday just around the time we will be driving through to Louisville. That's rad.

So just as bad up there? I had friends in town for the MSG shows and we met up during the day. I looked at last minute scalping in just to see them for the first time in ~20 years and it was like $500 minimum to walk in the door.

AB looking svelte in that jersey! Looks like a good time. How were Red Clay Strays? I took a deep dive into them last week!

Saw Nation Of Language last night. Super fun 80's synth-pop vibe...shades of New Order/OMD/The The/Echo and the Bunnymen. They were great, and were very appreciative of the crowd.
Now...the opener? Blonde Redhead...just didn't do it for us.

Can't remember the last time I went to a concert (not counting the summer symphony shows we go to), but I'm seeing Sturgill Simpson tomorrow night at the amphitheater right by my house. Other than the potential for (relative) cold, I'm pretty psyched.

Be prepared...from what I've seen on social media, he's been playing ~3 hour long shows. Nothing but very positive reviews.Shirley wrote: Mon Oct 21, 2024 12:54 pm Can't remember the last time I went to a concert (not counting the summer symphony shows we go to), but I'm seeing Sturgill Simpson tomorrow night at the amphitheater right by my house. He's actually doing an extra show tonight that they added for hurricane relief fundraising. I'll probably be able to hear (not clearly) it from my house.

Re: The Live Music thread...
Pretty damn good. It was the most all-business performance I've ever seen. The band was scheduled to take the stage at 7 and they took the stage exactly at 7. They started playing then and didn't stop for a break, not even a few seconds between songs, for 45 minutes. Then, Sturgill stopped for about 30 seconds and drank some water before starting back up for another 45 minutes or so. At that point, he asked the crowd "you good?" before doing another multi-song set. And again, each song rolled into the next one seamlessly. They continued that way, including a few epic, face-melting jams until 10. Nearly 3 solid break-free hours. I think he spoke about 3-4 sentences all night. He never even introduced the band members. My wife concluded that he's on the spectrum.

Re: The Live Music thread...
Its great that he's got Laur Joamets, the guitarist from Estonia, back in his band playing lead. The last time we saw him, Sturgill was the only guitarist.Shirley wrote: Wed Oct 23, 2024 12:34 pmPretty damn good. It was the most all-business performance I've ever seen. Vandoliers played in Bryan last night which is about a 90 minute drive. Kelli said I could go, but I wasn't going to because we're having to drive 4+ hours today and right back through Bryan/College Station. However, at about 7:15 last night I saw it was the 5th anniversary of me seeing them for the first time, so I hightailed it out of here, made it with 10 minutes to spare, made some new friends, and saw an awesome show.

Nice! I'm at FEST in GNV this weekend. Superchunk, Cloud Nothings, Joyce Manor, Pohgoh, and likely a bunch of other bands today/tonight. This is such a fun weekend. ~10 venues, mostly downtown, all walkable. Hundreds of bands.
