In the Southwest magazine, I read that with the expiration of the Wright Amendment (some archaic law from 1979 preventing flights from Love Field extending outside of the neighboring states), Dallas will become the ninth US metro area to provide domestic long-haul flights out of multiple airports. I was trying to figure out what the nine were (would have made a good Swampcrash Q):

Dallas (Love Field, DFW)
Houston (Bush and Hobby)
DC (Dulles and Reagan)
Chicago (OHare and Midway)
NYC (JFK and LaGuardia)

Those were the only definites I could think of. What are the others?

Orlando (ORL and...Sanford?)
Pittsburgh (PIT and...Latrobe?)
Miami (are those all considered 'one metro area' by Southwest for this purpose?)
San Francisco (Oakland and SF?

A lot of these just seem like stretches that if allowed would put the number well past 9.

I'd think so, technically the whole coast up to PBI is.

But then again Pittsburgh and Latrobe are as well and there's no way they can be counting that one.

The official name of the airport is Manchester-Boston Regional. Your average classic Granite Stater does not like this.

It depends on what definition of metro area Southwest is using. Manchester isn't in Boston's Metropolitan Statistical Area (which does include some of the NH seacoast) but is in the same Combined Statistical Area. It's all very intezzzzzzzzzzz

Sure. The airports are just across the bay from each other. We fly out of there every time we visit my sister in Des Moines. Only direct flight from our area to DSM.

Sorry, not me. Daughter is getting a little brother in about six weeks.

If it matters, I didn't really care either way about gender of kid #2 (just like first one). Of course, I look at about a dozen plastic tubs of infant and toddler clothes in pink and similar colors in our basement and wonder how my bank account feels.
