My wife also works for a hospital system, and has been debating when to have her team work remotely. Her team mostly works out of the corporate offices, so less of an issue.

My daughter at University of Washington in Seattle was just told that beginning March 9, classes and finals will not be held in person.

"... Starting Monday, March 9, classes will no longer be meeting in person. When possible, instructors have been directed to conduct classes and finals remotely or to make other modifications as necessary until winter quarter concludes on March 20. Our campuses will remain open, including hospitals and clinics, dining services, residence halls, libraries, and recreational and athletic facilities..."

My company just announced a work-at-home policy starting on Monday. Most employees already work at home, so we have the tools and habits in place.

Wife's company just put a halt to any non-essential travel. She's got a bunch of conferences she's either convening or attending this spring/summer. Shit is getting real.

I’m supposed to go on a cruise first week of April leaving out of Miami but I’d put odds on that happening at 50/50 right now.

I’m supposed to fly to STL for work that day. Legit a little concerned about being able to fly back later in the week.

I'm going to what will be the most attended US sporting event of the weekend tomorrow (except for golf or NASCAR or whatever). I'm a little bit ambivalent about it, but it's MLS' job to cancel the game, not mine. I know my odds so I don't really care for me, but I think this weekend and next would have been the best time to pump the brakes.

8 cases in Colorado now, including 2 in my small town.

Stopped at Costco for a few things this morning, given the state of the shelves and meat cases they will run out of most of their food by tomorrow.

One interesting thing about this epidemic is how the most at-risk group right now is probably rich, powerful old people who travel a lot or are surrounded by people who do. Good thing there are none of those running for President.

Tomorrow morning I'm buying my beer, wine, meat (to freeze), and snacks. I'm convinced someone in my office building (50 stories, midtown Atlanta, mostly international law firms and consultants) will turn up positive this week and we'll all be quarantined for 2 weeks. Now just have to hope the NCAA is as stubborn as we know them to be.

Stayed at the Hampton Inn right there two weeks ago.

So far there haven't been any reported cases here. My wife's a doctor so I'm sure she'll hear pretty quickly if/when there are any cases. I'll post here if anything is reported in the next week.

Trump Weighs In
“I like this stuff. I really get it,” Trump boasted to reporters during a tour of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta, where he met with actual doctors and scientists who are feverishly scrambling to contain and combat the deadly illness. Citing a “great, super-genius uncle” who taught at MIT, Trump professed that it must run in the family genes.

“People are really surprised I understand this stuff,” he said. “Every one of these doctors said, ‘How do you know so much about this?’ Maybe I have a natural ability.”
How do you guys deal with Trump supporters?

Dear Leader, bringing the country together!

Anyone want to bet when shortages of medical gear, supplies, and Covid19 testing happens (next week?), Trump is going to make sure that priority is given to Red States?

Off the subject, but have you ever brought a vape pen along on a flight? Wondering for a friend. About the likelihood of getting caught. And, whether they'd just take it away or if one would be in the shit.

Yeah I always fly with mine. I just stick it in a pocket of my carry on bag or in my toiletries in my checked bag.

Worse case if they find it they take it and you get a warning though I’ve never heard of that happening.

Same, although I think the battery type is specifically not kosher for a checked bag.

My one nod to coronavirus panic today was to fill my gas tank when it was only 1/3rd full before my trip next week just in case. Between the electric engine and hybrid I might not gas again until May anyway.
