I can’t really get exercised when these guys lie about that stuff though. What do you expect him to say “Yeah, I’m out of here.” It’s like if you’re cheating on your partner and you’re confronted about it you don’t cop to it. Keep lying. There’s no point being honest.

Absolutely no point in not lying about it. There are no repercussions....people in Norman are mad? So what...he'll never be back there.

I do wonder if some reporters are kicking themselves though for not asking follow up questions like 'Are you going to be coaching here?'

Is there a reason Kingsbury is coming in as possible replacements at ND and OU? Is it more of a pipe dream then a realistic option?

I wonder what kind of odds you could have gotten 30 or 40 years ago on coaches leaving head coaching jobs at Oklahoma and Notre Dame for other college head coaching jobs on back to back days.

A move to USC makes sense to me big name that can recruit in a conference that's basically only got Oregon, but LSU from Notre Dame? Semi-lateral move in terms of recent prestige, and a harder road to the playoffs playing in the SEC.

and when I read Brian's 20-40 years ago I was thinking the 50-60s. Jesus.

Plus, might be tough for a guy who’s never coached outside of Indiana, Ohio and Michigan to recruit at a school that traditionally gets most of its players in the Deep South.

1) Guess who else left the midwest for LSU? Saban.

2) Weis already recruits well in the south at ND. He's a great recruiter.

Kingsbury's contract with the Cardinals runs for one more season. As he currently coaches the team with the best record in the NFL, this is very likely his agent posturing for a better extension, as evidenced by Schefter tweeting Oklahoma's interest in Kingsbury during the first quarter of the late afternoon games on Sunday.

I say this as someone who most definitely would be there if I was a football player at Notre Dame, but no way I'm going into a 7:00am meeting to hear my coach tell me he feels so bad he's getting $15 mil a year from another school.

A buddy who works in the athletic department at CMU reminded me that Kelly is a guy who wears out his welcome after awhile with the AD personnel. Obviously, he is/was in no danger of being let go at ND any time soon, but one bad year could have changed that.

ND to LSU is a lateral move at worst and re-starts the clock with a new athletic department.

the $15M number is not close to correct. Dennis Dodd whiffed big time on that one.

Has LSU ever had a kid sit for a bowl game to preserve their draft slot? If so, I bet we could find some fun tweets.

DIdn't urban say that the Notre Dame job was his dream at some point? Or am I imagining that? Because this has Saban to Alabama written all over it.

Yes. Ohio State and Notre Dame were reportedly his dream jobs from before he went to Florida.

Absolutely love that Stoops is staying put. I'm not writing that from a UF perspective as much as a fuck LSU perspective. Also, AB deserves nice things.

I'm glad he is staying too. But if he can win 7-10 games a year it's only 2-3 years before he will have to move and I won't have any hurt feelings about it. Really wouldn't have this year, but he seems to be getting what he wants from the AD that will help the program regardless of who is coaching.

Why would he ever leave making that much money, recruiting the hell out of Ohio (after OSU gets who they want), and not having to deal with the ridiculous expectations everywhere else?

This story is making the rounds about what kind of a guy Brian Kelly is.

That's two future NFL coaches he was a major dick to. Sooner or later that shit tends to come back and bite you in the ass.
