Dan already did this. Snyder owns Red Zebra radio in DC (980 AM--and some other spots on the dial depending where you are). WJFK (106.7) is the CBS-owned sports station in the market would be there top competitor. Snyder has had all kinds of preferential treatment for his station and would not let other stations do updates from Redskin Park. I am pretty sure they had to go to the NFL to correct some of his media relations behavior.

Next time I'm in Vegas, I'll be wagering on the Nigerian Soccer League, where even the last place team only lost one game at home this season.

http://www.theguardian.com/football/blo ... e-win-away
Referees must contend with fans too – for the men in the middle being beaten up is not so much a risk of the job as an inevitability.
But being a ref ion Nigeria does have its advantages:
"Sometimes the quality of refereeing can come down to which team offered the most generous expenses," a club official who did not wish to be named told the Guardian.
But the fans can be hazardous to a ref's health:
"There was an infamous case several years ago when a referee, Dogo Yabilsu, awarded a penalty to Sharks at Kwara United and fans invaded the pitch," recalls the Nigerian editor of kickoffnigeria.com Colin Udoh. "Yabilsu was a colonel in the army and he took out his service pistol and chased the fans off. But Sharks were still afraid of what would happen if they scored so their player deliberately missed the spotkick."

It says at the bottom that the story is fake.

"Brooks Peck is the editor of Dirty Tackle on Yahoo Sports. Have a tip? Email him or follow on Twitter! P.S. This story isn't real...yet."

Which really should mean this article should never have been published in the first place, or at least rewritten as an opinion piece.

This Diego Costa Spain v. Brazil thing is nasty, but I agree with Brazil on the idea that Friendlies should count toward locking folks to a country (if friendlies used for world rankings)...but that is the not the case so Brazil just needs to accept it and take the high road.

Cosmos win the Soccer Bowl over the Silverbacks. The NASL is a strange beast. The Cosmos only played 1/2 the season (well they started in the 2nd season). 7211 fans at the game. Not bad showing for an NASL game.

EIGHTH Division Shortwood United host Third Division (League 1) Port Vale.
A sellout crowd of 1,300 crammed into the stadium!

They just interviews the Shortwood Utd coach, he's a PE teacher. Taught 5 periods of PE today and came right to the stadium!

Wow, that thread is fantastic. Those blokes are proper funny. I had no idea there were that many mascots in the FA. Gunnersaurus always irritates me. There is no reason to have a guy in an oversized dinosaur costume on the pitch hugging players pre-game, high fiving them at the half, after the game, in the tunnel and as they get off the team bus. Just a complete joke. Then to have them with the team for the moment of silence? Just unreal, especially the goofier ones or the ones with perma-smiles. The string of Gunnersaurus pictures was classic. Love the Jack Wilshire dig the best.

A good question for J-Lo:
"This might be an ecumenical matter, but does having a mascot taking part in the minute's silence for war dead become even crasser when it's a devil ;"

So I'm sure there's not another person out there that cares about Women's Division III soccer, but my Girlfriend's daughter plays forward for the University of Puget Sound team. They won their 12th straight conference championship, and she made first team all Conference for the second straight year (she's a junior).

They are currently playing Cal Lutheran in the first round of the NCAA tourney.

UPS won their game 1-0 in the 2nd minute of the 2nd overtime. And if they both win tomorrow, they'll play Wash U in the round of 16 next weekend.

Been to quite a few of their games this season, including down to Portland last week for their last two regular season games.

Can't make it to the tourney games, but the Girlfriend and I were watching a bad online stream of the game tonight, so we did get to see it.

Okay!

Here's a team I won't be cheering for in the World Cup: (From the Guardian)
Croatia's public prosecutors have fined Josip Simunic for pro-Nazi chants after the national team's World Cup qualification.

Croatia reached the World Cup with a 2-0 win over Iceland on Tuesday. Simunic took up a microphone on the field after the match and shouted to fans: "For the homeland!" The fans responded: "Ready!"

The call was used by the Croatian pro-Nazi puppet regime that ruled the state during the second world war.

Did anyone read about/see the Nike Friendlies. US wins the 4 team tournament by beating Brazil in the 3rd game, but they stood around for the last 3 or 4 minutes of the game. Brazil had a few Red Cards and basically shut down. Haji Wright of L.A. Galaxy's youth club looked really good.
ussoccer.com wrote:A final flair-up occurred with only five minutes left to play when William committed an off-the-ball foul on Pulisic that left the tournament MVP prone on the turf while both teams swirled around him in a scene that threatened to boil over. Once order was restored, William was ejected, Pulisic returned to the field and the USA stood on the ball as both teams watched the final minutes of regulation tick away, as Brazil’s front line refused to venture past midfield -
