YES. You should go. Pick any one show. I would go to all three without a second's glance, but, yes, grab one. I am almost completely positive you will not be disappointed.

Random thing I just realized - I was looking to see if the white stripes show I saw in Southaven , MS in the summer of 2007 was on Nugs (it is) and when I went to download it/add it to a playlist I looked at the notes and just now figured out that was their last show. Which, if I knew that , I had forgotten it. It wasn’t planned as their last show, I don't think, they just never toured again after that I guess. Weird to have seen that one I guess . It was a helluva show and hotter than Satan’s anus that night.

I would have been off on Billy Strings age by like 30 years on name alone.

For sure. Even if the music may not be exactly what you dig, his talent will blow you away. Amazing band also.

For sure. Even if the music may not be exactly what you dig, his talent will blow you away. Amazing band also.

The whole band is really talented. But, very “jammy”. You should know that going in.

Goose is my favorite band-of-the-moment and I like Phish so I'm good with the jamming thing.

Turns out I can't go tonight...neighbors asked to meet for dinner and tonight is the only night we could do it.

There is a two-day music/jam band dealie at Merriwether Pavilion in Columbia, MD in June that I have two lawn tix for. Goose will be there among many others - looking forward to hearing them live.

On a side note, if any of the Baltimore/DC crew is going to that - let me know! We could hang and what not if so! Unless you don't want to hang with me, which...fair!

I have a buddy of mine coming up from Atlanta with a friend of his to go to this. I'm not sure I'm in yet.

However, 'The Bridge' is a local jamband that's been playing the past 25 years or so as either their own band, or as cover bands, 'Psycho Killers' and 'Foam' (Talking Heads, and Phish, respectively). They're really freakin talented.

I want to see what each day’s lineup looks like. Hopefully they sell one day tickets. I’ve seen most of those acts on there. I’d like to see Goose, I haven’t seen them. I’ve heard great things about Molly Tuttle and Daniel Donato’s Cosmic Country.

I know a couple people who raved about Molly Tuttle’s live show. Another band of virtuosos.

I think you should revisit your connection to Billy Strings. I think that was shared before tennbengal became a super fan. Which I love, btw. So happy to see people love music in that way whether I'm a huge fan of that artist or not. I've never dug really deep into Billy Strings for whatever reason, but I have had at least one single on my end of year list (Fireline?). He's one that I'll end up doing a deep dive on before the year is over.

DMB announced tour dates today and completely skipped two of their hotbeds, Texas and Florida. Curious if they are adding more shows later or if this is an intentional thing due to politics. They have a couple shows in red states, but mostly blue.

I’m really excited about a show I’m going to Friday night, even though I don’t know the bands and don’t love the genre.

Back in November when my daughter was home for Thanksgiving, she said, “Dad, you love live music and I love live music. And, we’ve never seen a real show together! So, it just so happens that one of my old favorite pop-punk bands is doing a couple reunion shows in the Bay Area in February, and I got a plane ticket home and bought us two tickets, if you’ll join me?” Well, damn. She could have gone with one of her friends, but she asked me, which makes so happy and honored. So, yeah, I’m looking forward to it!

ETA: the bands name is Set Your Goals.

That's really awesome. I hope my kids do something like that some day. Never heard of the band, but I liked that song. Never been to a pop punk show, but it's the kind of music that should be high energy and fun.

When I was a college (back when dinosaurs roamed the earth), an older guy I knew was trying to get into concert promotion biz, in my hometown. Despite our relatively low population and remote location, we got some big bands playing Grand Junction, as it was a gig along the way between Denver and either Salt Lake City or Los Angeles. Anyways, my friend was bringing America to town, but without their usual road crew. The guy talked a bunch of guys (including me) into handling security for free for him. He needed a couple of us to help out as roadies for America and the warmup band, and I immediately got in on that instead of security. So two other guys and I lugged gear while America’s stage manager directed us. We wore concert shirts emblazoned with “Stage Crew”. Lots of my friends were in the audience as I gloried in yelling “check one check two check check” into each microphone for the soundboard guy. During the show, we hung out (and got high) with the warmup band. It was a great night, and I loved wearing that shirt for years after.
ps: the guys in America were a bit aloof but very nice.

I wore that shirt until it was a rag! I prized it partly because … well, it’s amazing what will impress a girl when you’re 20 years old. I’m going to try to find an old photo of me wearing it.

So, I’m home from the rock show. Beautiful venue in the nasty Tenderloin district of San Francisco. Two hardcore bands, followed by the pop punk headliner. All three sets featured copious mosh pit activity, stage diving, crowd surfing, and somewhat violent slam dancing. Your humble narrator cowered in the back. Fun times and a cultural experience. My daughter put this very short video snippet on Instagram of one of the warmup bands (and a shot of the oldest guy in the audience.)

Looks like they gave up on Dicks.

Phish is going to be headliner for night 2 at Bourbon & Beyond this year in Louisville (Sep 11-14).

The lineup is as diverse as a festival lineup gets. JazzFest in its prime, if you will.

Lots of olds in here, but any weekend where I can see Phish, The Waterboys and TV on the Radio in the same bill will get my commitment.

That's an enormous lineup, which usually means not much wheat amongst the chaff, but there's a lot of good. The Hold Steady on row 10?!?! 10,000 Maniacs even lower?

My wife had such a good time last year (in large part to the Bs!) that she is open to going back and taking the kids depending on what night Brenson Boone is playing.

Yup that’s how it was last year and there wasn’t any bleed over. It was awesome to be able to stay in one place and not have to run to other stages (for the most part).
