Ha! We actually would have a place to go it’d just be a very long drive from Vancouver. He was, including O'Connor. Many of the artists (or their rights holders, for lack of a better term I can think of now) have even sent cease and desist letters.Tom 1860 wrote: Tue Oct 15, 2024 4:45 pmSorry if this has been said, but wasn't Trump (on some songs) asking for music to be played that we all know the artists have asked not to be played st his rallies.
I think I have read that Sinead O'Conner, the village people, the cranberries and U2 to name a few (he is obviously not a fan of the arts in Irelans) have insisted in the past that he does not use their music. Is there anywsy he is trying to show that he will do what he wants and not be told by musicans what to do (even if this is in his head, in his head...).

Why is this seemingly unenforceable? Is every sound person both an independent contractor required to play whatever is asked and it’s not right to go after them?

Re: Presidential Election 2024
I wonder if anyone has pushed this legally beyond the cease and desist letter. Theoretically a copyright owner could get an injunction. Otherwise the damages caused by this type of infringement would be pretty minimal.mister d wrote: Tue Oct 15, 2024 7:10 pm Why is this seemingly unenforceable? I just think it's funny that I saw them play YMCA and then Hallelujah back-to-back. A song by gay men about hanging out and hooking up with other men and then a song about sex/orgasms/disappointment/s&m (depending on which interpretations you prefer).
Totally Kafkaesque

The problem with that approach is that they won't bury Trump under legal work. They'll just make work for Trump lawyers.A_B wrote: Wed Oct 16, 2024 7:11 amI think they should file a lawsuit every time he uses any song and bury under legal work. I thought this was already happening.
Isn't the RNC money officially jointly controlled by the RNC and Trump? How much is Trump willing to spend on races that aren't his?

Re: Presidential Election 2024
I feel like this is a good omen.
So yesterday was the first day of early voting in Georgia (much to the chagrin of the Republicans who want to take Black Americans' right to vote away). Previously, the largest first-day was 2020 with 136K. Yesterday it was over 340K. Here are the omens I want to point out:
Race:
Whites: 208K
Blacks: 112K
Gender:
Women: 198K (54.6%)
Men: 166K (45.5%)
I see those are some pretty encouraging signs, especially considering it's Georgia.

Re: Presidential Election 2024
I’m personally looking at that 1.1 million + of early voting in Georgia as a good sign. I really think this is going to be a wipeout. Republicans tend to do better when the turnout is low; that’s the secondary reason they try to suppress the vote as much as they do. (Stopping Black Americans from voting is obviously the primary reason.)

Re: Presidential Election 2024
Wouldn't read too much until you have a feel for turnout on the Republican side. Probably line length on election day in red exurbs.
Lots of effort to turn out black votes on Oct 15 and early. 8-10 different speakers at church and at least 6 made a big deal of voting when it opened on 15th. More important to see if they can turn out infrequent Obama era dem voters. Not sure we have any idea about that and I don't feel any of that sort of groundswell locally. That said Trump voters are also less energized. Much much fewer signs and bumper stickers and hats. Id guess this is not a high turnout election but that dem enthusiasm is higher than Republican enthusiasm. Not enough to win Georgia because that requires waves of black folks and young folks which I'm not seeing but enough to carry states where the demographics are friendlier and that's all she needs. Walz states.
