Nice. It was that way at Marvins Mountain Top for the AllGood Festival when it was in WV. Well, two stages, but they were right next to one another and the bands were starting within 2 minutes of the previous band departing.Giff wrote: Tue Feb 11, 2025 6:29 pmYup that’s how it was last year and there wasn’t any bleed over. It was awesome to be able to stay in one place and not have to run to other stages (for the most part).EnochRoot wrote: Tue Feb 11, 2025 5:56 pmA whole bunch of 45-50 minute sets. I checked the layout which suggests the two smaller stages will only be operating one at a time, but the moment stage A's performance ends, stage B's performer should be ready to go.govmentchedda wrote: Tue Feb 11, 2025 5:08 pm That's an enormous lineup, which usually means not much wheat amongst the chaff, but there's a lot of good. The Hold Steady on row 10?!?! 10,000 Maniacs even lower?
The bigger stages are farther away. Well, one definitely is, and the other might have some sound bleed over.

OOOO that is a tasty as fuck lineupEnochRoot wrote: Tue Feb 11, 2025 5:00 pm Phish is going to be headliner for night 2 at Bourbon & Beyond this year in Louisville (Sep 11-14).
The lineup is as diverse as a festival lineup gets. JazzFest in its prime, if you will.
Lots of olds in here, but any weekend where I can see Phish, The Waterboys and TV on the Radio in the same bill will get my commitment.

Bloc Party + Metric might be the exact dividing line of whether or not we want to put in the effort to go to a show.
Pros: Both are album shows, great venue
Cons: That venue is in Queens, either band would be great as an opener for a band we really liked but neither is above "I kinda like them" level on their own

Weird number of 90s nostalgia acts but overall definitely a great lineup.

More like 9999 maniacs. Minus the maniac that matters.
Re: The Live Music thread...
I just read their wiki page. Apparently they’ve been touring on and off with different singers ever since Natalie Merchant left them thirty years ago.

Re: The Live Music thread...
9,999 Maniacs might be peak "you definitely didn't really see the band despite seeing the band".
Re: The Live Music thread...
My ranking of the days changes depending on whether its "you have to listen to all of those bands" or "you can just pick out the ones you want to see". Thursday could either be second or last.

Implied in my rankings is skipping bands I don't want to watch.

It might be a fun game to get an alphabetical list of bands performing on a certain day and then try to guess the poster pyramid.

I’m looking to score those tickets. I owe my son a Green Day concert.

Re: The Live Music thread...
Last summer we were going to go see them and Smashing Pumpkins at Citizens Bank Park, but the weather was nasty. A couple days before, I saw they were going to play the next night at Hershey Park, so we got those tickets instead. But Billy Joe blew out his voice in Philly, so they rescheduled to a date I was away. So I’m looking to take him this time.tennbengal wrote: Wed Feb 12, 2025 2:04 pmHaving seen Green Day twice in 2024, absolutely worth it. They were so fucking great live.
(Crowing alert). His gifted seminar class in middle school is taught by two teachers who are musicians, and both of them are around our age. Once a week they play music from the 90s in class, so my son has an appreciation for that era, so much so that the first vinyls I got him was Nevermind and Speakerboxx/The Love Below.

Seeing Colby Acuff tonight at one of the few Houston live venues I've never been to see a show before. If you like what I like Americana/country-wise, check him out.

Dinosaur Jr is coming around this way again. Playing at the Fillmore in Silver Spring. If I can't get to that one, I may drive up to MA to hang with a buddy and see the show together. I've seen them a few times and they are great. J. shreds.

Was kidding about Jack White at Michigan Stadium, but turns out the Big House will host its first ever concert in September (Zach Bryan) and it sold out in hours.Giff wrote: Mon Jun 17, 2024 1:49 pm Fellow SWT Bobcat alum now holds the record for largest single-ticketed concert in US history.

Silverada tonight! They recently rebranded from after a decade-plus run as Mike & the Moonpies. I doubt most of y’all have listened to them, but based off the type of music and where they’re from, I’m shocked this is my first time seeing them.

Pretty much had this experience last night...

(someone played a live Phish song on the "Touch Tune" jukebox in a dive bar...after about 18 minutes of it the bartender hit the manual over-ride and moved to the next song in the queue)

Good friend bartended in Gainesville during college. He had a sign on the jukebox that read, "Brown Eyed Girl will be skipped".DaveInSeattle wrote: Sun Feb 23, 2025 11:35 am Pretty much had this experience last night...

If you’re going to go to a crowded bar as a middle aged adult, I highly recommend going to a bar where a large portion of the crowd is there to celebrate the birthday of someone even older than you.

Kind of an annoying few weeks of concert announcements:
Drive-By Truckers/Deertick! Oh shit, dance recital.
Lucero! Oh shit, out of town wedding.
American Aquarium! Oh shit, Wilco/Waxahatchee that same night.

Yup..youngest folks at the show. Well the opening act is a bit younger than me. Trio called Canyon Lights. Not bad. More of a bar band or pre noon set at a festival. But they are decent.sancarlos wrote: Sun Nov 03, 2024 9:36 pmI saw George Thorogood in concert in 1979.wlu_lax6 wrote: Sun Nov 03, 2024 9:34 pm My 18 year old asked to go see George Thorogood and the Delaware Destroyers in Feb. Picked up tickets to see Beth Gibbons in Philly on 3/29. I think I might have an extra ticket if any of you are in the area and are interested.
