Well there are a lot of people out already in Minneapolis. And businesses are boarding up. And there was a new video showing the other two officers kneeling on him as well, so just one might not be enough.

Well, no. The level of understanding you get from reading history is much better than no understanding at all.

Maybe this is a better analogy. Here's a tweet from a twitter friend of mine.

We white folks can read all we want about racism and civil rights. In fact, it's important that we do. But that's never going to give us the same perspective and understanding as he does.

Chauvin has now been arrested.
So 3rd degree murder. There are rumors that they knew each other? Could that bump up the possibility of pre-meditation more?

The issue between 3d degree and 2d degree is intent to actually kill, not premeditation. But if compelling evidence surfaced of the cop's pre-existing animosity toward Floyd, that could help support bumping the charge up to 2d degree.

They apparently worked together at a nightclub for several years, but I'm not sure how much they interacted with one another.

That's the human thing to think. I was ready to go down to the protest on the Strip today but decided against it because of concern about contracting COVID. It sucks to have to make that calculation but that's where we are.

Maybe. At the very least she's trying to disassociate herself and her family from him and not have her house burn down. People have been looking her up, her brother, her parents. She's a realtor so fairly well known.

The MN gov and AG pretty clear that last night's violence in their area from those outside the state. Hearing similar comments from Detroit and Oakland. Whites causing the damage - not too far a stretch to make the connection to attempts by the white supremacists to spark something worse.

They're called 'Boogaloo Bois'...and yes, its a thing.

Far-Right Extremists Are Hoping to Turn the George Floyd Protests Into a New Civil War
The “boogaloo” is code for impending civil war or violent confrontation with law enforcement, and that’s what they’re hoping to get out of the protests. Their main reason for being there is their antipathy toward law enforcement, and so they’re trying to position themselves as allies of Black Lives Matter protesters. They’ve made police brutality one of their central issues, which was explored at length in a Bellingcat article this week.

Saw that myself. Wary of putting too much trust in that yet until it's verified. It fits what I want to believe too nicely.
I don’t know how you would verify it but the video is suspicious as hell. The guy was very methodical about breaking windows—it certainly didn’t look like a spontaneous act of rage. There’s also a text message convo online that’s purportedly the ex-wife/fiancée of a St. Paul PD officer identifying him as the guy.
I saw all of that. The wariness is in linking it to that cop based on that text thread.
The umbrella seemed like a tell as well. Not a tell that it's fake or anything, but a tell that it is someone trying to further conceal their identity in a manner that I had not seen before.

Of course it’s not just MSP but it’s relevant for the fact it seems to be undercover cops contributing to the chaos there.
