That game gave me a little more confidence in the manager. Sat Alex Morgan and Morgan Rapinoe to start, and in particular starting Williamson on the flank in place of Rapinoe was huge. She created very well and absolutely put the ball on a dime for the second goal.

And I liked bringing in the cavalry with AM, Rapinoe and Rose Lavelle at the end.

The Netherlands was arguably the better team, BUT that does discount the US having 5 or 6 goals pulled back by VAR... All legit, but the point is that 2 or 3 of those were razor-thin margins, which showed the US was pretty dangerous in their own right.

Keep advancing, that's the key. And that was the best they've played all tournament. A solid match-up with CAN in the semis awaits.

Israel’s baseball team made a significant sartorial oversight by not using the Star of David as their cap insignia*.

One of the worst losses I have ever seen.

A complete farce - one of the worst refereeing jobs you will ever see.

I still have never seen a keeper being penalized for holding the ball too long, other than that game. I watch a lot of soccer. I bet on Jabikistan third division.

Ooooo, never mind! Spain an equalizer 30 seconds later after some U-8 level defensive awfulness in the box from the Ivory Coast.

Karch Kiraly is the women's volleyball coach and not, suprisingly after seeing him, a flight instructor at a midsize regional airport.

I don’t remember a 1500 race where there were four guys who could win it and the race came down to strategy like that. I seem to remember that it was always just one guy who was clearly stronger than the rest.

Also, it’s clear that the medley relay is just dying for an injection of analytics. By 2028, that race is going to be won by the country with the best spreadsheets.

I’m sure they’re looking at splits already, yeah. But I’m talking reaction time on the transitions, effect of fatigue, goggles on/off, stuff like that. One thing that was noticeable tonight was the fresh swimmers looking better (even though they were fresh for a reason).
