Guess we'll find out how much Jim McElwain really liked it in Fort Collins.

It should be a very desirable gig for an assistant at a major or head coach at a smaller mid-major, assuming they'll pay at least the market rate.
Personally, I love Fort Collins, so I'm keeping my phone line clear, just in case.

Second that emotion on Ft. Collins. You could do a LOT WORSE than being in quick-strike distance to about a dozen ski resorts and with a truly nice little downtown area for dinner/nightlife. There are also a lot of little cities/towns up in that area that are really nice and could get you away from prying eyes if desired.

Re: NCAA Football 2021 Thread
Do football coaches see the world that way? I think for d3 maybe they view location like that...but most are tape nerds, program focused (planning and fund raising), and recruiting hustlers. The see schools for their ability to recruit. So does Colorado produce top caliber players that will come to my school...are there other areas I can pouch? Do I have state of the art facilities and $ to keep making my facilities better (so I can recruit).....and maybe location/campus/community to make my better half/family accept me at the office all the time.
Re: NCAA Football 2021 Thread
You make some good points. Denver is the best place in hundreds of miles for recruiting, but most schools west of the Mississippi get a lot of their players from either California or Texas. Colorado State should be able to recruit as well as any school in the Mountain West, for sure, given very good facilities and a desirable location (which might also appeal to coach's family.)wlu_lax6 wrote: ↑Thu Dec 02, 2021 2:06 pm Do football coaches see the world that way? CSU made a relatively huge investment in athletics recently. They should be able to recruit locally as CU still has leftovers from past regimes in terms of locals going there. Plus it's a relatively easy climb to the top of the Mountain West.

Holy fuck, Utah is thirty minutes from a Rose Bowl berth.

I'm here as well, in a sea of red. It's 80/20 Utes fans. Game has been pretty boring.

I feel like sheer momentum would have worked if he turned that towards endzone 3 yards sooner.
Hold on, I'm trying to see if Jack London ever gets this fire built or not.

Georgia laid an egg no doubt but these refs got the memo to get 2 SEC teams in the playoff.

If the committee has any balls and if (big if) Michigan wins it should be:
1) Michigan
2) Alabama
3) Georgia
4) Cincinnati

Most of the right-wingers I know from UT are more McMullin/Romney Republicans but yeah. Not terribly surprising especially given and the Fox propaganda about Oregon as the home of Satan.

Jesus... I thought this team was going to be solid, but only the most insane homer would've predicted this. I discounted 2020 as a total anomaly, but, again, still... This?

Re: NCAA Football 2021 Thread
Not sure if you're being sarcastic or not, but as a reminder, MI was UNRANKED to begin the season. They were coming off of a 2-4 2020 that saw their head coach forced into taking a pretty significant pay cut.
Cincinnati made a pretty good argument for themselves last year and really needed to win one tough game (Notre Dame) to put themselves firmly in the discussion all year. And good for them! First non-P5 team to ever make the CFP... So I get that.
But to say ANYONE saw this coming from MI is looney tunes. This is absolutely bonkers.

Re: NCAA Football 2021 Thread
C’mon. As shocked as the fanbase might be by this, there’s no world where a one loss B10 champ UM team misses the playoff. This exact Cincinnati team only made it because a couple of other teams lost one too many games, and lost them at the wrong time.

Um... I'm not talking about after the dust settles. That's almost a ridiculous conversation, frankly. Of course MI should be in the CFP after beating OSU and winning the trophy.
I'm talking about the expectations at the beginning of the season.

It's absurd either way. It's Michigan. Like saying your shocked that USC made the playoff. And people bitch about Pats fans.
