It would get boring. The reason this one was so fun is that it's been 9 years. This generation was thinking it would never happen.

Olympics every 4 years and World Cup in between is the right amount.

Curious why you think not. It gets more players involved, it means a longer break than a weekend and it’s evidently very popular.

For the guys that are playing, it's way beyond just a fun few nights of light skill competitions (I include the actual ASG in that characterization.) It's up to 4 REAL games with guys flying around and playing a legit professional hockey game.

For the guys not playing, yeah, it's a nice break. For the guys on the ice, you're getting zero break.

ETA - I'll throw in the GM and coaches in the crowd of "not a big fan" of having your very best players ragged out right as you round the corner on the final 1/3 of the season.

I guess that makes sense though if they’re able to come up some decent financial incentives for the players that might solve most issues on their side. I feel like the players would still rather play in these games than a random Wednesday night game that is one out of 82 against Utah.

We'll see, it planned for every 4 years so.... the talking heads, fans, want it every year but that was never a reality. NHL announced a plan for 2028 8 nations tournament, that's the earliest we'll see and it could fall apart. We had a world cup in 1996, 2004, (Canada Cups before that), a made up teams one in 2016 and now this. NHL can't get on the right page because they want the best of both worlds. They want intense hockey with no injuries, on the NHL's schedule, in an NHL rink, with only NHL players so that the NHL can take in 100% of the profits. But there aren't enough players/countries.

One of the things I think that will get updated after this version is over is not just the backup roster rules, but some more team control over medical care and oversight. The press release from Boston really reads like they are not happy at all at the way his injury was handled

Hard to push back on the coach that you are too hurt to play when it means awkward holiday dinners and kid birthday parties.

And again glad the Caps don't have anyone in this tournament. Wilson pounding on Americans could have been fun. 7 out of the next 8 home for the Caps.

Odds makers have the game as pretty even. I think the Canadians take this because they are a bit in less banged up and after the loss will have a bit more fire in the belly.
