Implying a knowledge of political culture and history that I thought would have been gained by the googling to find the answer.

Since we are on the topic, I think an important historic distinction (not important for purposes of the gunpowder jones contest) is that three women, Ross of Wyoming, Ferguson of Texas, and Wallace of Alabama, were married to governors. Ross was a widow of a former governor.

Ella Grasso was elected governor of Connecticut in 1974; she did not get there by gravy-training off her husband's political achievements.

I hate when women who have no qualification other than marriage to a prominent politician pretend to high office. (Well, I hate one instance of that.)
Who knows? Maybe, you were kidnapped, tied up, taken away and held for ransom.

Just so you know, Madeleine Kunin was anything but a gravy trainer.

Look, I'm sure you've done your research but Tatis hit 2 in a fucking inning. It stands to reason that he had 4 more on the year. I'm taking this.

Also stands to reason that he hit 71 more HRs in the other 1,457 innings. Move over, Barry Bonds. New home run champ in town.

McCovey.

Gotta guess him, since he is so high on the all-time list. But I peaked and see he is not the answer. And I saw the answer--shit, I knew that.

I thought this one was a bit more well-known than it apparently is, as yinz guys are more savvy than the average cat. Howard's kicking himself over that lost gold star!

The answer is: DONNIE BASEBALL

Don Mattingly hit 6 in...(looking it up)....1987.

Those were the only grand slams he hit in his entire career.

ah, doesn't Mattingly also have the record of most consecutive games with 1 HR (8) ?

I thought of that for him and not grand slams.

I think Griffey and Ralph Kiner share that one. Mattingly may also have it.

EDIT: You're right, Griffey, Mattingly and Dale Long are tied with 8. I knew there was a Pirate, just assumed it was Kiner and not Dale freakin' Long.

Turns out you kinda did. I just read that Travis Hafner tied it in 2006, during the short stretch where he was like, far and away the most underrated player in MLB.
