Formal? For jeans or khakis?

To wear with a suit, I generally like Allen Edmonds bets. For more casual, I've been pretty happy with J.Crew.

Everyday* wear.

* Once every other week when I'm not in sweatpants.

The way the last 18 months have gone, jeans feel like formal wear. Actually need to suit up this afternoon for an interview over Zoom. Feels so weird putting on a suit and tie.

I'm still going into the office, but no staff are. I generally wear shorts and a t-shirt. I had a potential client show up in person yesterday, rather than the expected telephone consultation.

Thanks to FB’s listening in on every conversation we have, there have been ads popping up in my feed for https://vintageicehockey.com/. This site has hundreds of old hockey team logos and can put them on all sorts of merch. They even had the AHL team I worked for when I was in college. $40 hoodies in my size are hard to resist. I was expecting garbage, but they arrived today and are pretty nice and fit well. Of course now they’ll email me every 7 minutes, but I like my new gear.

Very cool site. I’m lookin for some Binghamton Whalers apparel, but they don’t seem to carry any. They have Broome Dusters stuff, but most of it says Binghamton Dusters for some reason. I mean, the pun is in the Broome Dusters name! Come on! I’m considering Duster-wear, but the team left a year or two before I was old enough to follow, but I always thought their stuff looked cool.

(Binghamton is in Broome County). Dusters had a cool sweater, brown and gold, and the logo was a drawing by Johnny Hart, who drew the B.C. And Wizard if Id comic strips. He was from Binghamton and did the logos for all of the local parks.

Kind of off the subject but when I think of Johnny Hart I think of this controversy
Hart began imparting Christian messages, especially at Christmas and Easter, in the 1980s, after experiencing a religious conversion. Some Jewish, Muslim and secular readers complained to newspapers and to the syndicate, saying his views were offensive or inappropriate for the comics page and better suited for the op-ed pages.

But many Christian readers gave overwhelmingly positive reaction to his unapologetic statements, and free speech advocates spoke up for his right to express himself.

He did not hesitate to express his religious views in other forums, telling the Washington Post in a 1999 interview, “Jews and Muslims who don’t accept Jesus will burn in hell,” and “Homosexuality is the handiwork of Satan,” and “The end of the world is approaching, maybe by the year 2010.”

Several newspapers refused to publish individual cartoons on a case-by-case basis, but others stopped publishing “B.C.” altogether after his Easter 2001 cartoon drew substantial protests. The panel depicted a menorah changing gradually into a cross, and the text included some of Jesus’ last words during the Crucifixion.

Amazon increased Prime to $139.

It went up to $119 in 2018. Federal minimum wage remains at $7.25.

Glad I'm a student now!

I grew up with brisket that was stringy and gross.

Wasn't until I travelled to the south that I realized how wonderful brisket could be.

I never tasted brisket until I moved to the Dallas/Fort Worth area for a couple years in my 20s and discovered Texas barbecue. I immediately got on board!

Free Washington Post Access

Okay so it requires you to do the trick every 7 days but the "library card" part is not necessary. So hit the URL below, hit the link, login/create a Wapo account. Once your account is live it works for the Wapo app and straight to the sites.

This could probably also go in the shit that makes me feel older thread, but the Goodwill is low-key a place for great deals on clothes (amongst other things). It isn't just dusty junk that you'd find at a lame garage sale anymore. And they have 20% for military and veterans Sunday and Monday.

I got a few pairs of shorts from some golf-based clothing company called Linksoul for 4 bucks each. (If you check their website they are far more expensive.) And a really nice, practically new pullover from Orvis for a couple bucks too.

The pack of Mexican spicy candy chamoy/tajin gummy bears I bought in the checkout line were more expensive than any one thing I've purchased there.

One of the cats knocked his food bowl over and broke it. To replace it, I looked at the bowls at Petsmart, and they are pretty freaking expensive for what they are. So, I walked down to the local thrift store and bought a couple nice ceramic cereal bowls for 99 cents each. Score.
