I was going to make an Ann B Davis comparison.

Very exciting Rass, hope she has a good race.
Everyone make fun of Syb. He’s reported this post to the mods instead of quoting it.

We have deemed Mr D’s post as not violating the Swamp’s terms of service and we have further deemed Syb’s joke as funnier and more culturally relevant.

Bib 227

She wasn’t quite last.

She’s had a cramping issue since HS that we thought was identified as lady problems but she’s on meds and it’s been bothering her off and on this fall. She looked like she was struggling.

Ha! I knew the posting box looked funny on my phone. Got the “post reported message” and knew someone would get a laugh.

Funny thing, I didn’t get D’s joke at first. I was going to make a Center Square joke, then it clicked, so I had to Google to see if Rivers was CS.

Congrats lil Kidd. Unrelated xc fans is a pretty big achievement.
Send another link in 2027 and we'll see how much better she got.

That's rough. But impressive as hell that she's there and finished and was within 40 seconds of her target time.

Thanks. But, and I haven’t checked the time, she was almost certainly faster when she ran this course earlier this season. Stinks she wasn’t feeling her best.

And she was like .1 off 23 at her last race at Princeton a couple of weeks ago and I did give her a little shit for that.

Yeah man, nice work. Should be ready to roll for track.

We ended up on the same plane home as the RU team last night, which was great because the kid wanted to stay at home last night to vote today and to go see her HS compete at the state XC playoffs (I thought I was gonna have to head back to the airport after we got home).

I dropped her back at school this evening and she took 6 Surfsides from our fridge because she’s going to a teammates party tonight off campus and has decided based on the handful of other parties she attended earlier this semester that she doesn’t like other forms of alcohol.

The future step-son-in-law, Tyler, who recently quit his gig at Puma, has been asked to come along, as a hired photographer, on this trip:

An Iconic 10-Day Luxury Voyage To The Last Frontier - Antarctica
Embark on an extraordinary journey with Space2Sea, featuring luminaries William Shatner, renowned Astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson, Moonwalker Charlie Duke, Award-Winning Journalist Ann Curry, esteemed NASA Astronauts Scott Kelly and José Hernández, ocean-legacy Céline Cousteau, and acclaimed UK memory artist Stephen Wiltshire. This once-in-a-lifetime holiday Voyage to Antarctica will take place aboard the new, ultra-luxury expedition vessel, Seabourn Venture. With only 260 exclusive guests, this unforgettable adventure promises to be a truly memorable experience.
Robin is trying to work something, brand-synergy wise (maybe with Norrøna, or Vouri, both brands they've worked with before), so she can go along as well.

Suites for the 10 day trip range from $35 to $91K, with a lot of them already sold out.

An update...they are both going on this cruise. They are just waiting for the contract to sign. So they will both be working/getting paid.

Caity has told Robin, in all seriousness, that they should have the Captain marry them while they are onboard. I said that they should ask William Shatner to be the best man.

In our family group text this afternoon, Robin told us she did this trail half-marathon this morning.

Storm The Castle.

Then she casually added that she won, in 1:52:46.

The youngest has wanted a weekend job for awhile. Never had one before. We were in a Japanese grocery store a few weeks ago and he saw a sign that said "Walk-In Interviews." Can't remember how much I've shared here, but he is also part Japanese, is studying Japanese, and wants to live in Japan.

So he went home, picked out a professional outfit, walked in, and was told they don't do that. So then he emailed them. They replied, he interviewed, got the job, and today was his first day. And it was amazing.

It's just a part-time job. But I love these small triumphs.

Do I get to crow about my nephew in-law?

He went from being an introverted kid with massive insecurity issues as a younger teenager to playing in multiple bands as one of the better guitarists I've ever seen play. The guitar guided him out of his shell and he went from being a wallflower to a wonderful young man full of assuredness and confidence. He's enrolled at the Conservatory of Music in SF (he's a junior).

I'm not sure I've ever seen a musical instrument turn a kid's life 'on' like it has for him.

To say I'm bursting with pride for him would be an understatement.
