Australia - Korea starts at 10:30. Don't like Korea chances. They had to play extra time on Tuesday

Thanks, I forgot this was on. There is a girl from my daughter's club (2 years older) and wife's hometown playing. My daughter has been to a number of clinics with her over the years, she is absolutely amazing to watch.

Love the guy.

There have been a couplen of seasons where his production fell off big time due to the Olympics, Asian Cup, Friendlies etc.

He's a legend in Korea, but man. I wish they sucked. Guaranteed he gets a couple weeks off after this tournament (schedule is pretty light), or you can watch his production tail off.

Just be glad he won the Asian Championship and Spurs didn’t lose him to military service for two years.

Watched to U17 game. 13-0. They looked really good. Sad thing, Panama’s goalie had a solid game. Only one goal was savable and she had a bunch of nice saves.

I mean, all things being equal/objective... Getting knocked out in the Semis of a major tournament isn't typically seen as a failure.

However, looking at the road to get here?? When Korea is pretty clearly one of the favorites to win the thing coming in? Tying Malaysia... Barely beating on OK Saudi team? No shame in a tight match with the Aussies, but losing to Jordan. Yeesh.

Classic Juergen.

USWNT U17 walked over Canada 5-0 to win the group. It was expected to be a tight game, but the US dominated from the start and never let up. Face Haiti in the semi while Canada play Mexico. I believe the finalists qualify for the U17 World Cup. US has two o pop professional players on the squad, which is incredible as they are all 16. Alex Pfeiffer is a star in the making, Leena Powell is an exciting player to watch, really hope she breaks through into thre full national team, and their CM Kennedy Fuller is a boss out there.

Haiti game is Friday at 1:00. No tv listing, hoping it continues on FS2.

Horrible memories of that.

But those horns were cheap and being sold outside the stadiums (as I recall). According to BagpipeCentral.com, a set of USED pipes will run you over $1,700

I recall Mexico 86 was also noisy, the Azteca sounded like a beehive. I find soccer to be a noisy sport in general

Pruitt, a trip down me memory lane.

My wife can't stand it when I tune into a PL game and the crowd noise is amped up. I tend to not really notice the din, but once you know someone is annoyed... It's pretty annoying. (If that makes sense.)

Yeah, my wife often gets annoyed by crowd noise at a sporting event I’m watching. So, I grumble and turn down the volume.

Nah, at least not in my (limited) experience. When it's more like white noise, it's not a problem. The issue with soccer is the fairly constant signing/chanting and in lots of cases drums, horns etc.

Cacophonous is a word we like to throw around.

Johnny Soccer (i.e., Johnny Cardoso), 22 yo midfielder for the USMNT, recently got a transfer from Brazil to Real Betis in La Liga, and is absolutely lighting it up in his first few games (and three straight 90s). Nice to have a little depth at the 6/8 spot for the US team. I don't feel like he's really impressed a ton in a US shirt so far, so it'll be fun to see how he comes into his own with more consistency at a higher level club.

From a Betis club about his game today: “Johnny Cardoso (9): Extraordinary game from start to finish. Starts with a steal in an area far from his natural position and assists a goal. An example of the many cuts and intelligent interpretations of his game.”

Weird. Bonaire is one of those teams that can only "compete" in CONCACAF tournaments.

I was on that island for 2 weeks and couldn't find a place to buy a jersey on the entire island, and looking online was pretty much impossible to find one.

I saw Canada-St. Lucia years ago in an early round CONCACAF world cup qualifier.

Canada looked like Germany compared to St. Lucia. A fun night out, tickets might have been in the $15 range.
