This whole movie is fantastic
but I really love Sé Lest because of the sense of wonder on all the faces in the crowd (plus the marching band.)

Re: Getting the spins
Yesterday KEXP did a one-day fund raising drive, counting down 93 "summer jams", as voted on by the KEXP DJ's.
I compiled it into a playlist: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/1FPl1 ... gxjeiWTdGQ
I had never heard of the #1 ("Everybody Loves The Sunshine" by Roy Ayers Ubiquity)

That reminded me to say that Tears for Fears new album is legit.

They played here last night. Kinda wish I'd gone.

Randomly hearing Running Up That Hill twice in a 24-hr period indicates a crack in the matrix, no?

Nah, I think Stranger Things included it in an episode this season. It's been getting some run again lately.

It’s the #1 song in the country (by downloads) so the Stranger Things bump was realgovmentchedda wrote: ↑Sun Jun 12, 2022 11:46 amNah, I think Stranger Things included it in an episode this season. It's been getting some run again lately.

Yeah. Big write up on the ringer. I recognized it but didn’t know it I suppose is the best way to put it.
Hold on, I'm trying to see if Jack London ever gets this fire built or not.

The AV Club posted an article suggesting 60 minutes of other Kate Bush songs for the previously uninformed.

If you want some nice music to mellow out to - these two have a number of really good albums.

I bought their coffee once.

Didn't remember this but something clicked.
Re: Getting the spins
I just finished their discography and I really don't think there's a bad album in the bunch.

I think I mentioned this previously, but the daughter of one of my wife’s best friends dated and lived with Britt Daniel for a few years. She’s gorgeous. When she dumped him, her mother was really sad about it. I think she liked him as much as her daughter did.
(btw - the daughter is an MD.)

Re: Getting the spins
Anyone a fan of Goose? I saw them on CBS Saturday Morning of all things. Seems like the DMB/Phish contingent would like them a lot. They’re like Phish but if Phish actually recorded good songs first before playing them live and stretching them into interminable 30-minute noodlings.

For the most part Motörhead fucking sucks but “Ace Of Spades” is an all-time great song.

Yup, I just started listening to them and agree with your assessment. Dripfield is a great tune.brian wrote: ↑Sun Jun 26, 2022 8:37 pm Anyone a fan of Goose? Re: Getting the spins
Goose seems to be a jam band from Indie rock-inspired roots rather than the jazz/Zappa/prog vein of Phish and the Americana vein of the Dead. I know they're gaining ground in the jam scene, I for one haven't been hooked as of yet (I watched part of their collab with Trey from Phish a few weeks ago and was underwhelmed.)Giff wrote: ↑Fri Jul 01, 2022 11:49 amYup, I just started listening to them and agree with your assessment. Re: Getting the spins
Just saw this and listened to the Dripfield album. I really love this album! A few riffs were 100% Phish-inspired, but the album is more Indie than jam band. I could see this being being ripe for jams live, but the album is extremely tight and well produced. Elements of so many styles of music... thanks for the recommendation.Giff wrote: ↑Fri Jul 01, 2022 11:49 amYup, I just started listening to them and agree with your assessment. Only if it doesn't have the new Archers of Loaf track on it.
ETA - just checked, it doesn't.
It does have the new Beyonce track, which I don't like at all.

Re: Getting the spins
Its more the idea of Obama listening to Wet Leg and being like "yeah, this is a band I'm really into". Its very difficult to believe.
Re: Getting the spins
Never heard, or heard of Wet Leg, but I do like the band name.

Re: Getting the spins
This made me laugh. I'm making a concerted effort to start listening to more music. My son wanted a Spotify Premium account for his birthday, so I paid the extra for a duo account. I kind of like this Wet Leg, and the brunette is really cute. Actually watched their music videos, which were pretty funny and weird.

Re: Getting the spins
I'm planning a restart where I listen to the album but without the "Chaise Longue" because I think that poisoned the well for me. I've liked the other few singles enough that I think the order of exposure was a serious issue.
Re: Getting the spins
Same! It reminds us of our youngest dropping that word a couple Christmases ago after running over a banana peel in Mario Kart.

Re: Getting the spins
I'm really bad about projecting "this band is going to break because of this album", but Alvvays new one is really great and seems accessible enough to make the jump.
Re: Getting the spins
The weather says its now officially fall which means early Bon Iver and Frightened Rabbit will be played 10x more frequently for the next 6 months.
Re: Getting the spins
Seems pretty impossible, (at least for me) to project which bands/artists the record labels and radio stations are going to give the push to break them big. Usually doesn’t correspond with quality. (Get offa my lawn.)
