That Epley maneuver is amazing. One treatment of like a minute remedied dizziness that I'd had for more than four months.

fuckin rights - couldn't imagine feeling how i did for even a few days longer but for you to have it for four months is unthinkable, Steve - jeez.

question is: have you ever tried it (Epley) yourself? It seems so relatively simple and this past week i've actually felt a tinge of dizzyness coming back and I've been wanting to try it on my own before one of those massive spin-attacks comes back... but i'm a little gunshy about it.

I only had it done once, and it was by a physical therapist.

My secretary had dizziness and tried to do it herself, and it just didn't work. But when she went to a PT, that took care of it.

GOUT!

god damned it....Big toe has been hurting for over a week now. Started when I was in Boston, and I was thinking it was from walking so much, and having an oyster and a lobster roll my last night for dinner. But I've been good since I've been home, and its not getting any better. What's weird is that is starts to feel better, and then like yesterday afternoon, last night, it just got worse.

I've been doing the allopurinol for years, and been taking indomethacin since this flare up started, but its not working. And I've been drinking cherry juice, to no avail. Only thing that really helps is putting my foot in a bucket of ice...and that only lasts so long.

Ugh, that sucks. I started to get that familiar pain in the big toe the Thursday before meeting AB, so I was extremely relieved it was either just a quick flare-up or something else. Hope it gets better soon.

I've been taking allopurinol for a year and a half and have had two flareups, one which was absolutely horrible.

Have you tried colchicine?

Haha no, I had a huge burn blister and had it for 10 days by the time I met AB in Nashville. Kelli and I named him Carlos (I got it by picking up a metal ramekin that had been sitting on a fajita skillet...seemed appropriate).

Think I might be dealing with my first battle with gout. Thought it was from walking around New Orleans all weekend but now I’m worried it’s gout. If it is hopefully it improves enough by Friday so I can drive.

Maybe it was the copious and repeated amounts of green chile. Maybe it was my father’s undercooked sausage. But, I just arrived back at home and I’m on my fifth day of diarrhea. Not nice. Luckily, I drank a large amount of Imodium before flying.

Anyone gotten a Shingles vaccine? My father came down with a case of shingles about a month ago, despite having the vaccine, and he's been pretty miserable, so I decided I should do it. I'm getting it after work this evening, and just wondering how miserable I'll feel tomorrow.

The old vaccine was just one shot, and was less effective. The new one is two shots and said to be much more effective. I did it a couple years ago. It can cause some queasiness, like a covid shot. But, worth it, because nobody wants shingles!

My father had it so bad at the start that he couldn't wear his regular pajamas to bed because of the waistband. He had to borrow one of my Mom's nightgowns.

I've had my first. Was going to get my second today. But prioritized a covid booster, given the current spike and how much I travel.

So I went to bed Monday night with all my limbs feeling normal. Woke up yesterday morning to a pain in my right knee and it was very swollen. The pain isn't really there any more, but it is still very swollen and I can't fully extend my leg. Any ideas?

And you didn't bang it or fall or anything? I had a bursa sack rupture on my hip many years ago, but that came from diving on very bad astroturf.

You don't have any history of gout? I forgot who on here has to deal with that...

I don't recall bumping it on anything and I was even sober that night! I do have gout, and I'm reading that could be it. But if it is, it's not nearly as painful as when I get it in my toes.

Yeah, for that to be an injury thing... You would remember the precipitating event. My ruptured bursa was easily the most painful thing I've experienced. Had to have a surgery to repair.

So the swelling went down through the week and probably felt close to 100% starting Monday. Woke up this morning and my ankle on the other leg is killing me. Not swollen though. So frustrating.

Was in an all-hands meeting with the GM this week and they (inexplicably) had cookies inside of plastic bags available. 2 or 3 folks, multiple time with the plastic crinkly loud enough to be heard by everyone in a smallish auditorium.

I had a really tough time not saying something.

Also in that meeting, no less than 5 instances of cell phones going off... Like, fuckin' A... That's usually fixed after the first one... after the 3rd I was about to lose my mind.

Mine is someone eating a pastry right out of the little white paper bag. The combination of the crinkling, chewing, + the sound of loosened crumbs against the paper. I just started sweating typing this.

Yeah, its difficult to explain why I get more annoyed than you do without sounding like someone who just cares more about their own shit. But if you read enough about it, you can see where the line is crossed between "this is annoying" and "this is actively fucking up my life". And if I wasn't clear, I did Zoloft for two months to no change and decided to bail before I built up a dependency on something that isn't helping me.

Yeah, I have some of these too, but they're one-off deals where its happens relatively infrequently and I can just get myself away. From talking to the doctor, a lot of my OCD stuff doesn't seem too bad because its all stuff I control (either because its easily controlled or I'm fortunate enough to be able to afford dumb little matching shit). This dog one is the first I haven't had any recourse against and definitely affects the home life. During the work day, I can just throw the headphones on but once work is over, its a lot tougher to just retreat from the family.

No, the dog has been on prozac since shortly after that initial post for impulse control shit including near daily "attacks" on my wife. We had a specialized trainer who explained it as his brain only had two states: 100% on and impulsive or sleeping. Untrainable, undisciplinable and aggressive (but never with the kids which is why he's still here/alive). Typical lab.
