“It must have been hard to be targeted by someone while you’re at work and also it’s very hard for me too” sure makes it seem like the Astros want to reject any modicum of goodwill they reluctantly earned back today.

Is it giving the Astros too much credit to wonder if the former assistant GM was *really* good at his job?

All they had to do was reprimand Taubman the next AM and send him to counseling, and he'd get to keep his job.

Instead, they both-sides the situation until they realize their only course of action is to fire him.

Nooooooo ... no no no. There’s no coming back from “talked shit on a prominent anti-domestic violence reporter in support of domestic violator (but really his own department for acquiring said domestic violator).” Its unredeemable.

(And to Rass, what if his excess value was convincing everyone else of the excess value of ignoring domestic violence?)

(As in, if tomorrow Mike Trout beats a 7 year old, on Saturday the angels release him and on Monday he blames sleep medication, is the first person to sign him post-verdict and reap the 8 wins really good at their job or really willing to ignore humanity? Because that’s the equation with Osuna (and Chapman) just in a somehow less hard to condemn package.)

I've known a lot of 7-year olds and I'd be inclined to take Trout's side.

(Please note: beating kids is only funny in the hypothetical.)

AB is right - they make the funniest sounds if you hit them right in the hypothetical.

Agreed, but only when you view it through the lens of the Astros’ PR responses to the matter.

Very specific hypothetical, but I'd be real interested to see what Sean Doolittle would have done if it was the Nats.

As much as I want the Nats to win now....I want to see a Game 5 on Sunday evening, just to see Chef Jose Andres throw out the first pitch with President Stable Genius in attendance.

I’d rather see Trump throwing out the first pitch so he can get booed and laughed at for probably throwing like a toddler.

Trump critic to throw out first pitch at World Series game Trump to attend
“I don’t know,” Trump said in the Oval Office. “They’re going to have to dress me up in a lot of heavy armor. I’ll look too heavy. I don’t like that.”

I know. It would still be funnier to see Trump waddle out there and try to throw a ball while being booed by 90 percent of the crowd.

They had Wade Miley all season but yeah hardly any lefties in the bullpen. None that were any good.

When I babysat for a family for a few summers, I would take the kids to a swim and tennis club. I would read by the pool while the kids played and as the summer went on the mothers of the kids' friends got to know me. Then, those mothers would sometimes take off and pay me to watch their kids too. What a great job...anyway, one of those kids is now the Assistant General Manager of the Nationals. Hopefully he doesn't taunt any female reporters.

Ooof. A lot of people are going to be inconvenienced due to "security reasons" if the president attends the game. When he came to ABQ last month we stopped traffic on base and sent people home early because of lockdown procedures. And he had his own gate to get in and out of. Not only that, ABQ provided additional security detail and shut down the highway en route to Rio Rancho. I can't imagine a stadium environment during the world series.

Also, I think Stephanie Apstein should throw out the first pitch.

It's amazing the security for the President.

There is almost none for the Canadian PM.
In fact I've been served Stampede breakfast by two of them.

Scherzer scratched from start due to neck spasms.

If he can’t go, he can’t and that sucks for him and them, but I bet if it’s anyone but Scherzer or Bumgarner, it would be a huge deal. Like imagine this with Kershaw.

Given the sheer number of Nats fans from the wealthier MD suburbs, especially with WS prices I might have been more worried he would have been cheered at the Nats game. Not saying there isn't Trump fans in Houston, just saying Houston is a pretty "blue" city, even by relative Texas standards. As far as the number of progressives among big cities in Texas, it's 1) Austin, 2) Houston and whatever #3 is isn't especially close.

Harris and Fort Bend Counties (where the majority of Astros fans live) both went blue.

Enjoy your last full day of the Astros not being two-time World Champions.

Yeah, let me follow up that for your sake, I hope the Stros win tonight. Both J-Hip and I were at the WS clincher in '08, and the best way I can describe it is 47,000 people simultaneously climaxing.
