I’m confused, why are they talking about some random college freshman on a sports show? And why is the Times/Athletic article showing a picture of the girl?

The woman has gone public to try and call attention to how out of line Macafee/ESPN were with this. I'm sure they wouldn't have published her name/picture if she hadn't given her permission.

It was a social media rumor that she was involved in.

It was alleged that she slept with her boyfriend's father, denied on both sides.

She went to the same college that a draft prospect quarterback attended and Schefter was the guest. In theory, the connection was the college, so McAfee mentioned the rumor first, then went to the draft prospect talk with Schefter.

She is also now very likely to pursue legal action against McAfee, ESPN, Barstool, and other media entities who amplified the rumor.

I guess it should be said, given all the current cowardice in the media, it’s good The Athletic let Strang go against someone as big as McAfee.
