Good to know. I'm hoping we can get Rass, Flaco or Cerrano to weigh in.

I plan to wear a mask far into the future, especially on transit if I resume a normal office schedule.

I've been freed. At least outside. Kids got jabbed yesterday. Stores are about 60/40 for gas stations more like 95/5 grocery. No one is enforcing or cares to. Our family covid restrictions end June 7. Will be weird to go maskless inside but good to go I think.

Re: A Nasty Stiffarm
It will feel weird going maskless in a store. I still haven't eaten in a restaurant yet, not even outside. I would have been comfortable eating outside at a restaurant, but we just always did takeout. If we had eaten outside, I think I'd feel ok with eating inside, but just not going to a restaurant at all for 15 months, it kind of builds up. I'm sure once we go one time, it will feel normal halfway through the meal. Still, I'm sure we will wait until the kids are vaccinated before sitting inside.HaulCitgo wrote: ↑Fri May 14, 2021 8:43 am I've been freed. At least outside. Kids got jabbed yesterday. Re: A Nasty Stiffarm
We have our three safe outdoor restaurants and going inside for bathrooms where people are eating (obviously) maskless has been a bit mini-panicky. I've been totally comfortable outside, mask off unless the server is at the table and then its probably more respect than effectiveness, but inside is going to be a leap. I don't know I see us doing it any time soon, especially assuming a 9 year old getting the shot isn't for a while. Inside at like a grocery store I'll be wearing a mask for a while I'm sure; it can't do any harm and maybe has a tiny chance of preventing some.

masks everywhere. if the police don't bug you, then the social media warriors in town will out you. i get dirty looks when i walk the dogs and i don't wear a mask.. but i still walk the dogs without a mask on.
most of my friends are vaxxed. my wife isn't yet.. and the boy has stated he doesn't want it... lots of fun family convos forthcoming!
Re: A Nasty Stiffarm
as for restaurants..
we've eaten inside once in NJ, Havana Central out in Menlo. we felt comfortable.. last weekend drove to MD to see the mom's.. took them to fancy place out in Potomac.. but it was too cold and they put us inside. again, everyone at the table was vaxxed... plenty of distancing and high ceilings. plus only two servers that day so not a lot of folks.
eat outside.. yes please. that and take out. bars are open but i'll still drink outside only.
we're having a few close fiends from town over this weekend (sorry nj swampers.. your turn is coming) out on the deck. most vaxxed. kids will be kids.

Still haven't eaten inside and don't really care to. Miss that a lot less than I thought so long as outdoors is an option. Probably will appreciate ac here in a couple weeks. Do miss the bar though. And that place crawls with covid. Guess I'll challenge the shot soon enough.
Re: A Nasty Stiffarm
Spending through the roof again. I dont miss that. Trip planning. Dinners. Sports and camps. I didn't take enough advantage and the lessons are already lost. Even before were out of this thing. Sigh. I promise I would do ok with a porch and lemonade.

It's one of the things I miss the most. We've still only been to a few places, and they have had protocols still in place, but those are beginning to drop off now.HaulCitgo wrote: ↑Fri May 14, 2021 10:26 am Still haven't eaten inside and don't really care to. 12 yr old currently getting shot #1. 9 yr old is very jealous.
Re: A Nasty Stiffarm
12 year old has apparently been scheduled for next week. I think they might be getting Pfizer at my wife's health department but a local Walgreens was quicker.
The 15 year old wants to wait until spring track is over.

The anti-vax/anti-mask turds are going to own every bar in this country for the next 48 hours. Probably best to stay home this weekend.

No way I enjoy it. I'm vaccinated and really hope Darwin does his best with the rest. Sure was nice hanging out maskless with four other vaccinated friends last night.

I think my as yet fully unvaccinated status might be making me irrationally angry that SO MANY people aren't going to follow the instructions. Like, literally every Trump supporter especially.

If I were more cynical I'd think that the timing of the federal order rescinding mask wearing when cases are still 35K/day and "only" 40-ish percent fully vaxxed is that basically the only un-vaxxed cohort now is MAGA rubes and this is a chance to kill off almost only MAGA turds.

Re: A Nasty Stiffarm
Like if cases spike up again after a couple of weeks don't expect any additional restrictions ever again, because at this time that's basically the idea.

my 15yr old had Pfizer #1 this morning right at the high school - could really tell she has a huge mental weight off of her almost immediately. Not to mention her parents...

The vaccine roll out got off to a very slow start out here, though the last month or so we've been on the same pace as everyone else. It's also more forgivable when you live in a province that actually fully follows health experts who understand how exponential growth works. We basically went 9 months with no business restrictions because we were able to eliminate covid after the first wave last summer, locked down the provincial border and had mask mandates essentially from the start. A small flare up around christmas and again this April (flare up being when daily cases are double-digits for several days in a row) and everything shut down immediately.

Went to local branch of the ubiquitous PT's bar chain last night. Staff are following casino lead and not asking for vax proof for maskless. With a couple of exceptions, no masks. People were positively strutting without masks to/from the bathroom. Who knew Republicans were so in favor of "Don't Ask Don't Tell"?

Completely predictable. I’d let the unmasked unwashed hordes have the bars for the next few days.Rams Fanny wrote: ↑Sat May 15, 2021 2:14 pm Went to local branch of the ubiquitous PT's bar chain last night. I mean if you were being cynical and WANTED to send symptomatic people to the bars you’d schedule the announcement on a Thursday.

Was good Friday, except went to bed at 8. Saturday I was exhausted all day. Just never felt rested. Today is much better.

Yikes. Some kid just collapsed as he was walking to the hold area. Seems to be ok.
Re: A Nasty Stiffarm
Yikes.
Youngest got dose 1 yesterday and seems fine other than some arm soreness. Made it through soccer practice last evening, an uneventful night of sleep and school today.
My wife did realize after they left that Walgreens wasn’t making anyone wait around in an observation area. Just prick and go.

They may have just figured that the kids getting the shot were being driven home/under the supervision of a parent/guardian, but that's not ideal.
