This whole "military members should be able to carry guns at home" meme in the wake of Chattanooga is really fucking stupid.

Someone shared a FB post from Dakota Meyer, the retired Navy Seal who narrowly escaped wedlock with Bristol Palin. He wrote that the wake of the Chattanooga tragedy was not a time push political agendas. Followed by a very long winded call for reducing gun restrictions and a whole bunch of other crap.

Dakota Meyer, Brian Kolfage, Marcus Luttrell, and just about all other military members that go the Fox News route just disgust me. It gives the average civilian the idea that military members are these prisoners under the terroristic reign of Hussein Obummer.

One of my favorite things is schooling civilians on a military lifestyle. We're not all heroes. We're not demi-gods amongst men. We don't deserve your undying praise and affection. Believe it or not, there are LOTS of assholes I've served with and wish would fall down a flight of stairs. So many, many military members can fuck right off.

There's assholes in every walk of life. Assuming there's not plenty of assholes amongst military members (or doctors or lawyers or cops or pro athletes, etc., etc.) is the height of lunacy. You kind of get shouted down when you try to point that out though (which I think was kinda your point). When that Abu Gharib shit came out there was a backlash to the backlash if you tried to point out that the military can be fallible and a few assholes can make everyone else look bad.

Dude shoots down a drone over his property. Arrested for criminal mischief.

What say youse?

I think if what he said was really true, that it was hovering and at one point moved once the neighbor's 16-year-old daughter (who was sunbathing) waved, these douchebags weren't just taking pictures of a friend's house and he was justified.

To be perfectly honest, this could maybe be it's own thread, because drones are really really weird to me, especially as is pertains to people just being able to own them and fly them around their neighborhoods.

I get that you can't have people firing off guns every time they encounter something that annoys them, but the drone shit needs to stop. Imagine if every douchebag with a Google Glass gained the ability to fly--that's essentially what these drones are.

Also, the guy should have used this:

I've never forgotten a Howard Stern show (at least 10 years ago which was the last time you could here it up here) when Robin was doing the news and talked about a government attempt to install spy cameras in fake birds that would fly around tailing people.

(Amazing and scary to think of how much this technology has advanced in a decade)

Stern freaked out saying that he was paranoid enough already without having to look over his shoulder at every bird nearby.

It freaked me out too, and now that his fears have become a reality, I wonder if any attempt will be made to outlaw their usage. Obviously, they will be banned from flying around government buildings, but what about the invasion of privacy?

And what about the fact that hobbyists are now building drones armed with weapons? Remote-control mass shootings?

And now there's a camera that follows people. Just put a small disc wherever (and on whoever) you want and the thing will follow them around. http://www.cnbc.com/2015/05/21/lily-the ... amera.html

This is bad stuff.

Motherfucking A. Shot on live television? What the fuck.

I am not sure I'm going to be able to watch the video of this. Though part of me wonders (hopes) that this being on video will actually have a benefit. Maybe people can see how senseless gun violence is.

OK, I'll stop being naive now. That's not going to happen. Ugh. Ugh. Ugh. Ugh.

It's pretty bad, but you only hear screams and gunfire, and not see the actual deaths.

Guy walked up behind them, nothing crossfire about it at all. There was another woman being interviewed, not sure of her condition.

Be careful.

Yeah I've heard the actual video isn't explicit (although leaving it to your imagination can be just as bad).
I would actually be more terrified to see the feed from the studio, trying to figure out and then realizing what happened live on air. Unimaginable.

Christ - just a few months ago here in Toronto, there was outrage at the spate of (as it is so charmingly abbreviated) guys yelling "FHRITP" to women reporters. Which then led to more guys doing it.

The immediate cut to the anchor was pretty horrifying. I think the producers changed it as quickly as possible, but it wasn't fast enough. not that they can be faulted.

Yeah. There's a still from the video that shows him blurry in full bogy shot, but it's hard to make much out. Appears to be a middle aged man.

Good Christ. I just realized I have been there - we vacationed at Smith Mountain Lake four years ago - that place where they were doing the live spot has a putt putt course and boat rentals for the lake. There's some vacation aimed businesses, an arcade and some restaurants. It's really in the middle of not much. Played putt putt and rented a boat there. I cannot underscore just how bizarre that is a location for that to have happened. Had to be targeted at one of the three , I guess. No way that was just random.

The picture still of the shooter is creepy...looks like some kind of mask, whcih would clearly indicate premeditation, but if its disgruntled, then that was well established already.

Yeah in BC a reporter was kissed on the cheek during a live broadcast. She filed charges until the guy apologized. Might seem silly but reporters are in vulnerable open areas.

Just another day in domestic-violence fueled gun-toting America.

This story is from the weekend.

http://www.deseretnews.com/article/8656 ... tml?pg=all" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

The school they discuss is the school where my kids went and my wife still works. My wife knows one of the victims - the one with the severed spine, not the one with the eye blown out. My daughter knows her daughter's best friend.

Fuck guns. Fuck men. Fuck the NRA and anyone who supports them.
And his one problem is he didn’t go to Russia that night because he had extracurricular activities, and they froze to death.

Not sure if I want to watch it, but my imagination of the scene might be worse than the actual video.

Never heard of the FHRITP thing, but this NSFW example made me laugh. Just because of the reporter's reaction and the anchors. Obviously NSFW with speakers.

This news segment made me laugh, it is SFW. The music half way through is great:

The killer actually recorded the killing and posted it.

The article below has one of the two videos - until just before the shooting. It's really fucking creepy. Apparently the actual killing is out there as well, but Twitter and YouTube removed it.

But there's video for this one. Video is very powerful. Sounds crude but there isn't video of 20 kids + teachers getting gunned down.

I'm thinking of the Ray Rice video, nobody cared until they saw it.

So maybe there's hope? I know I'm reaching here.
