They interviewed Ayers during the 2nd intermission.of today's caps-pens game. He was just getting off the ice from taking shots from leafs players at a practice session.
Not what I expected to see when I saw you were the last post here.

One of the sports days that makes me maddest each year. Should be a blast with Kreider likely heading out.

Two Things
1) What's an ebug ( I assume the e is for emergency)
2) So every team just has a dude at the arena that's ready to play for presumably either team?

Yeah, got to Youtube and put in emergency goalie and you can find a few more of these scenarios.
A lot of these guys are used by the club (as part of a rotation of dudes) that serve as practice fodder. Either when the regulars are injured, but also just to have additional warm bodies to shoot on.
Particularly late in the season, they try to save goalies from just getting pummeled. Even back-ups that don't play a lot in actual games start to wear down starting in March or so.

Vegas' usual emergency goalie is Mike McKenna, who works for the VGK broadcast team now, but was an NHL goalie for a decade until last year, so not the worst insurance policy in the world. And yeah, he'll often suit up in practice especially when they're giving Fleury off days.

I'm legit going to just ignore all of that, because I was 10 years old when those Olympics occurred and it's easily one of the happiest and one of the seminal moments of a not always that great childhood.
I'm not saying nothing can really ruin that, but I think these guys being conservative morons just isn't going to fuck with my memories of that couple of weeks. They were all lovable goofy kids at the time, and that's how I'll just leave them in my mind.
Not saying you shouldn't take a crack at them. Have at it. I just can't go there.
ETA - I certainly would've booed them if they'd shown up at a Caps game wearing MAGA hats. And I'll also certainly never do any adulating them at this point. Just to be clear.

There was no clarion call to change the emergency goalie rules a couple of seasons ago when Foster did the job for Chicago. This is all coming up because the Toronto Maple Leafs were embarrassed by their 42-year-old Zamboni driver beating them with the visiting Hurricanes last weekend, and now there’s a call to change things so something like that doesn’t happen again in the center of the NHL universe in Toronto.
Toronto, man.

The Rangers have 9 road wins in a row which is EIGHT MORE than Vegas has won in a row on the road and THREE TIMES MORE than Vegas' longest road winning streak this season. #teamrecords

Keep it going. Three or four more and they might be in a playoff spot!

Amazing tweet:
yeah i watched most of that game yesterday and can't figure out why that lineup with that coach is so bad. That was their 7th straight home defeat.

Prediction: For as much as I looooooove Brassard, the Zibanejad trade is going to go down as a massive, massive steal.

This thread was on page 3. The playoffs should be starting next week. Fuckin' sucks.
Anyway, the Golden Knights had one of their rookies - Cody Glass - turn 21 today. The VGK twitter account posts the lineups for each game two hours before using emojis based on the players names or nicknames so they've update the emoji for Cody as of today.

Dudes, this is on page three.
Anyway, I learned something crazy today. Pete DeBoer was the coach of the OHL Plymouth Whalers back in the late 90s when I used to occasionally go to games at the Compuware Arena (I lived about four or five miles away, but obviously didn't pay too much attention to who was coaching the team).
I received a surprising but welcome email from the Sharks' organization today. Despite the fact that the NHL has not yet officially cancelled the 2019-2020 season, the Sharks have apparently assumed it is fait accompli, and offered to refund or apply the ticket money for the five home games that remained when the season was suspended.
Waived today. He's clearly a dickhead and the stuff about teammates probably made keeping him untenable, but if that chat was all friends, its a pretty rough break.

His brother (who is on that thread) got kicked off his college team (University of Manitoba Bisons) for this.

Sounds like the NHL has approved a 24-team playoff format.
The top four teams in each conference will play a 3 game round robin tournament to determine seeding (and to get them in shape)
5 thru 12 will play best of 5s to get into the normal 16 team playoff.
