"You gotta go down. You crossed the line and people trusted you and they died" is a pretty shitty line.

"Life has a sick sense of humor."

Funny, Bodhi doesn't seem like a Depeche Mode guy.

I think in the future when I watch this I'll just shut it off after Utah and Tyler embrace.

Ok the fight scene is a little too long

No need for the extended fight scene. Throw the mask down and have it be that.

"You gotta go down. It's gotta be that way."

It's like the writer let his kids write the last five minutes of the movie.

As far as the ending goes, I really don't mind Utah letting Bodhi catch his final wave. I just don't think it needed to be setup the way it was.

All that just for Bodhi to biff it before he catches the wave.

By any metric you care to judge a movie by that's at worst a solid three-star movie. Honestly, the cheesiness is what sells it. If it were more earnest it would have sucked.

I've had this argument with at least a half dozen people, but I think he's a tremendous actor. He seldom steps outside of his range and for what he does he's a genius.

Shit, it was L.A. Guns. I think I knew that in the back of my brain and not just because a friend of mine worked with Phil Lewis about a decade after this movie came out.

But Tesla was still really fucking good.

Curcurio (can't remember his swamphandle, maybe El flaco, maybe jcbigblind) posted a link to an old Man U Arsenal game , and YouTube's algorithm took me to a Man U game at Juve in the CL. HOLY SHIT, Pavel Nedved looks so much like Bodhi.

Since we keep bumping these and this is the only search hit, Ratt has reentered the Billboard Rock chart due to that Geico commercial.

As a leftover birthday present to myself I had the girls sit down and watch this with me last night. Found the DVD to make it authentic.

They were into it. Early 90s Keanu being beautiful didn’t hurt (my wife prefers Swayze). Even Busey landed (it’s amazing that none of his comments have aged all that poorly). All of the things we made fun of (surfing scenes, some of Keanu’s line deliveries) they made fun of while enjoying the story.

They were 100% on board until the first skydiving scene, and I guess they’re not wrong. Utah going home (or to Tyler’s house?) and pretending like nothing was going to happen after the events of the previous day was pretty dumb. They stuck it out but it lost them a little bit. Too bad because the last bank robbery and last plane flight are so great.

Anyway not the worst response. I still love it.

Watched Speed with the youngest a couple of weeks ago. Need to ask her which she preferred.
